  1. This is the look I went for...
  2. Hi, I've recently put a rev counter on my 1981 GSX 250 cafe racer project and can confirm that the ratio is 1:4. The feed is at the front top right of the head. Cheers, Rifty.
  3. I'm looking to improve my 1981 GSX 250's stopping power and see that 1000's of the same year came with drilled discs which look otherwise identical (mine aren't drilled). Does anyone know whether the 1000 drilled versions do fit? Cheers, Rifty
  4. Excellent, thanks folks !
  5. Afternoon, hoping that someone can point me in the right direction from actual experience pleez. I need to replace at least one fork seal, the Haynes manual says to use a 50/50 mix of 10w30 and ATF. However, reading around, the concensus seems to be that dedicated fork oil didn't exist back then and it's better to use that. Is that true ? I've read reports saying that regular 10w30 engine oil is no good as it froths ? I don't want a fork oil that would be thinner than the recommended 50/50 mix but there are so many viscosities around, what weight would I actually need, 15 ? Very confused, all advice from actual experience very welcome ! Cheers, Rifty
  6. That's sorted that then, thanks. Still getting familiar with the bike and our pit bike does have a crank case breather in this area. And the head breather : the bike has pod filters which explains the lack of a tube. Thanks again !
  7. Afternoon, looking at my newly acquired bike, I cannot see any pipes attached to what I think are the breathers. I've circled what I believe to be points where breather pipes should attach, could someone confirm I'm right please. Where do the pipes route to, just the atmosphere or should a single pipe join both points please ? Do I even need a pipe attached to these points ? Thanks
  8. Thank you very much !! These are completely unlabelled on the exploded diagrams in the manual. Cheers !
  9. Folks, need some help, trying to follow the Haynes manual to ensure correct carb set up but can I heck find the screw ! Attached images are of the section of the Haynes manual (number 5) and pictures of my carbs. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ? Cheers.
  10. Thanks folks, that's been a great help. Got the bits I needed from a Suzuki dealer. Bike now runs great and is in for it's MOT. Pic included as a thank you. Cheers, Rifty
  11. Thanks, but already tried Robinson Foundry : they only have gsx's over 1000. The other appears to be a Suzuki dealer - is the consensus that Suzuki dealers can help with parts for my bike ? I naturally assumed they stopped stocking parts for a 1981 bike decades ago ? Cheers
  12. Hello folks, I've recently bought a 1981 gsx 250 cafe racer as a tinker toy. Where do you folk buy spares from in the UK please? I've now got the bike running and need a carb/head inlet manifold rubber, the existing one has sheared around the metal. So far I've checked wemoto and Eblag, would appreciate any pointers. A cable tie fix has got the bike running and will hopefully get me to the MOT station at the weekend! Cheers, Rifty
