Swirl Posted April 17, 2018 Author Posted April 17, 2018 Well I just done a quick mot history check, guess what it's mot'd till December, never bought a vehicle before 34 years old unknowingly with 15k on the clock and mot on it 3 Quote
Swirl Posted April 20, 2018 Author Posted April 20, 2018 Parts are arriving, the bike has been dropped off at a matest shop a mile away, so I've got to get the bike from the shop to mine, I can feel a van favour coming on 2 Quote
Swirl Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 Well just been to Nick C's emporium and a bit of wheeling and dealing and I've came away with what looks to be a nice condition loom, so tomorrow after work collect the bike from the a afor mentioned flower shop but no work will commenced as I will be having a pint for St George Quote
Swirl Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 Well it's home time for me and me little helper to get started Quote
Swirl Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 Wow cAnt believe how hard it was to get the top yoke off, feck me the heat had seized the ally to the fork leg, big hammer and some percy-verance and it's off Quote
Swirl Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 Now to find the bearing sizes as I can't find my vernier Quote
Swirl Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 New bearings ordered, I hate waiting for things to come Quote

That's my luck Please proceed Got the slingy front end here, it's been a Zed so the bearings are wrong, and i dont want to use the cooked bearings, just ordered clutch/choke and throttle cable aswell, 1 Quote
Swirl Posted April 28, 2018 Author Posted April 28, 2018 Well the frame is tidy, the loom I picked up off Nick C is the wrong one, but I just won an auction on one in Germany with the ignition, seat lock and a few other bits, bearings and cables have come so monday get the front end on happy days Quote
Swirl Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 well the front ends in so I can we it round, stem is far to long, need a slingshot stem asap, I was going to grind the es stem out and make a collar but the top yoke will need machining as well, so holding out hope for a slingshot stem Quote
Swirl Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Well massive thanks to Caferacerdan for a slingy stem, get it fitted tomorrow, seems the unobtatium has been obtained Quote
Swirl Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Well I couldn't sit in the house knowing there was a little shorty stem waiting for me in the garage so yes you guessed it, it's on 1 Quote
Swirl Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 So I had a mooch about looking for parts I knew I had somewhere 1 Quote
Swirl Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Bit more trial fitting and I'm a happy bunny Quote
Swirl Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Loom has turned up from Germany, both switchgears and ignition and seat lock, clocks and infills for the fairings are here and all new cables, so need to find a paint match for the frame, lockstops, go and get some risers back off a mate who hasn't brought them back, find a master cylinder in the cave, buy brake hoses and mudguard and put it all together, might get out on it in the sun if I get my finger out 1 Quote
Swirl Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 Loom 95% fitted, plugged in switchgear connected battery and she turns over, I'll pick some petrol up Sunday and see if it will fire up in a dummy tank 1 Quote
Swirl Posted May 18, 2018 Author Posted May 18, 2018 had a spare 20minutes before started fitting the new cables, job stopped as usual, the outersheath elbow had decided to welded its self in the s/hand switchgear, plastic all perished so need to pick it out when I get home Sunday and clear the thread out, nothing is ever easy Quote
Swirl Posted May 21, 2018 Author Posted May 21, 2018 Well the saga continues, it had a throttle cable in the switchgear, but I had bought a new one so that was getting fitted, snapped the old one off and guess what the new one doesnt fit, the screw in elbow is to small so I need to make a adapator tomorrow in work and hope the cable is long enough Quote
Swirl Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 We'll took the throttle cable to work, sorted the small issue, got it home fitted it and a new Choke cable, strapped the dummy tank up and she's away, running so happy days 3 Quote
