maxwin Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I have an alternator I bought loose, it has 2 wired with spade connectors, from what I can tell they are both positive and the negative goes through the engine, can i connect both of these to the battery positive terminal? I'm only running the starter motor and the ignition, everything else has been stripped out. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 No you can't - if you did the field windings would be permanently on and would flatten the battery in about 8 hrs! Red is permanent live, Orange is switched Live. Quote
dupersunc Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 (edited) What he said^ wire the orange to the same power supply as the ignition, via the kill switch. If you wire a warning light in series to the orange wire feed you will have a warning light that tells you if the bike is charging and reminds you if you leave the gnition switched on when your not running the bike.
