CockneyRick Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Had a few Slabbys over the years, but none had fairings. I have bought an aftermarket one to fit but have a few issues? The large brace is from a 750 & the small from 1100. This might be an issue, but the Robinsons pics show the front of the big brace has 2 mount holes. Mine only has 1? So i put it on, but had to force it into place cos the Indy mounts on inside press again'st the nose cone. Anyway it's in place of sorts. Can anyone say if there is a prob with the 2 fairing stay mix, or am i just doing it wrong? The other issue is as it is now, does the line of the forks run parallel with the top to Mid panels? Any help appreciated Quote
dupersunc Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 There's another little bracket between fairing stay and fairing below thee head light. One bolt into the stay, 2 bolts to the fairing. Quote
CockneyRick Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 (edited) Cos i got the large 750 frame, it don't have them "ears" only the 1100 does, so assume i won't need em! Have had a fettle & mid panel mount to engine, pushes the top fairing forward & seems better. Still don't help front under mount tho! But i suppose if that's in right position, then the rest will also be too? Edited January 26, 2018 by CockneyRick Quote
Macduff Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Not sure if its much use but the rear stay to the mirror ears is different on the 1100 which moves the top of the fairing forward, the 1100 Main stay for clocks and headlamps also move the fairing forward and possible up a touch. I found my 750 slabby was fitted with 1100 main and rear to mirrors fairing stays and I couldn't get the mids and belly pan to line up with the engine and lower frame mounts, swapping both out for 750 bits fixed that. CockneyRick Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) Have lined up the mid panel mount dents, & drilled to fit to the rubber vibration cam mounts. This pushes the nose forward & no longer fouls the Indy mounts. So just appears i hadn't "fettled" enough! Under nose mount just about has enough fairing to screw thru, but won't do that till i've fitted the one piece belly pan. To make absolutley sure. Nose won't have anything mounting (Indys-clocks etc) so as long as the bottom fits ok, i reckon it's good to go! Ta for info Edited January 27, 2018 by CockneyRick Quote
canamant Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Rick Make a little cross piece about 3 inches long out of a bit of 2 - 3 mm ally plate and bolt it to the bottom "prong" of the lower fairing bracket. You can then bolt the fairing to this plate with 2 bolts, One of the 750s I have had this arrangement as standard (ie a T piece at the bottom front) The other one has the bracket yo picture and has been modified. 1 Quote
CockneyRick Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Now fairing has pulled forward, as you see it the 2nd hole is the mount, but that's now off the fairing. The 1st hole is only bit sitting above the fairing now! Quote
