SiBag Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Hi, Has anyone got any info on the best method to remove a grearbox out of a bandit 12, gsxr 11 etc. without striping the top end. I know @fatblokeonbanditon bandit did a write up on another forum, but thanks to photobucket all the images are now held to ransom. Any info, picies etc. would be most welcome. Quote
dupersunc Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Take engine out. Turn up side down, Remove, clutch, and sump. Remove bottom half of crank case, remove gearbox. Reassembly is reverse of disassembly. Notes. Rattle clutch hub nut off before removing engine from bike if possible. There, a couple of bolts hidden behind the clutch that hold the cases together. Getting the selector forks to line up on reassembly is abiy of a fiddle. 1 Quote

Ted M Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 (edited) I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine and I've just put the crankcase halves together. As Dupersunc says tip it on its head remove clutch and sump the split the crankcases. With reassembly I kept it on its head with the crankshaft in the top half. I then put the two gear shafts and selector drum and forks in the bottom half and held them in place with a length of string then joined the two halves and slid the string out. I wish Id have done more photos, if you want I'll photograph the hidden nuts etc when I get home and upload them Edited December 8, 2017 by Ted M I'm a Biff 1 Quote
