MediAndy Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) This low milage bike was sitting in storage for most of her life, so she had lots of issues needing to be taken care off, after I bought her about a year ago. She needed obviously a full service, alternator bushings were dry rotten, she had a couple of electrical shorts, leaking fork seals, dead battery, dead horn, razor cuts in tires, stuck brake calipers, water leak, and, and, and, but her biggest issue were the Keihin 41mm FCR's, which were not at all setup / jetted correctly. The carbs also only had unfiltered air intake trumpets, which I replaced with K&N filters, which was more $$$ spend. All in all I have around $4.5k in this bike by now. But this cost included the bike, new tires, air filters, chain, sprockets, and a professional carbs cleaning and jetting, and then tuning everything in on the bike. I'm using Mobil 1 10W-40 Racing 4T engine oil, and she seems to like it much better than the conventional oil she had before. I still have to search a possible electric fault, since the front brake lever, when pulled, does not activate the brake light. The rear brake does activate the brake light, so it is hopefully something in the front lever switch...... This bike was my dream bike back in the 90's, but I never had the time or money back then to own one. Luckily things have changed since then, and I have ten bikes sitting in my barns now, but this Suzuki gets 80% of my ride time. I just love the way this old girl sounds, performed, and handles! Here are some of her stable companions...... Best tank protector money can buy! It's impressive to see on how much larger and more powerful the 96 Suzuki is versus the 97 Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport sitting next to her. Captain Chaos Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Hi and welcome. No wonder the GSX-R gets 80% of riding time, the other bikes are Italian. 1 Quote
