bluedog59 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Before you pull it apart could you measure how tall it is from base gasket to cam cover gasket ? I need to know how much space to leave in case I want to fit an 1100 in my frame. Ta. Quote

I need to know how much space to leave in case I want to fit an 1100 in my frame. Ta. looking to put an 1100 in a 750? I have a 94 750 and I had to cut off one of the tabs for the top side motor mounts from the frame. the rear tab was rubbing on the carb cabs and was starting to chips them. I wasn't using the top side mounts and didn't plan on it so I jus cut it out. I will gladly measure for you see pic to make sure I understand where you want measured 1 Quote
Madb Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 cool! 750 is 190mm and has 70mm spare above the rocker cover. oops soz. cam cover.. haha . my age showing now!. Quote
Madb Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 carbs will be a tight fit to top frame rail if fitting the 1100 in 750 frame but not much else to worry about... Quote
bluedog59 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Thanks, that's the measurement I wanted. If you have a look at my thread "just thought I'd show you my 750" you'll see the frame I may want to squeeze one in. Quote
mrgreen98ski Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Here is what i had to do and why. It fits but one of the top side frame mounts will hit your carbs. You can see the rubbing on the top rim of the carb cover. this happened on both sides. Quote
mrgreen98ski Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 I cut the culprit mount before it cracked or wore through my cap. Now that the motor is out I will clean this up better and remove the other one also. Quote
mrgreen98ski Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 LOL i just check out your "750 frame" bluedog59, I don't think you'll have the same issue. That's a nice looking frame! Looks good. 1 Quote
