Trying to decide whether to keep the 1052 bottom end stock or fit a GSXF crank and outer clutch basket I have lying around, the cases are coming apart anyway. Anyone done it? Or is it doable?

Better off getting an slingy 1127 crank. The fly wheel on a gsxf is helical. 1052 and slingy 1127 are straight cut.;)

Edit, just reread that you are using the gsxf outer basket. Can't see why it wouldn't work. Just plastigauge everything as you fit and take your time. Have a read of the Frankenstein guide to oilers. Some useful info in there.  http://oldskoolsuzuki.info/archives/category/tuning/oil-cooled-tunning
