petrol cap barrel

Does anyone know how to get the  barrel out of a gsx 11 fuel cap? Need to swap one over sos  got matching keys .

Be  buggered  if I can figure it out

If you have sussed it, would you like to tell the rest of us. I would like to get mine rechromed.

Take the inner  part of the lock off ,held on with two Philips screws , this will give you access to the bottom of the barrel.

It's difficult to see but there is a slight recess with a spring loaded brass locking plate . I just wiggled a Stanley knife while gently pushing the barrel out.

Don't know if that's clear ,if not I'll post some pictures up

Do you think it is possible if the cap is locked, obviously it's off the tank.

Yeah it is as that's how I did it , you don't need a key to get the barrel out

Pictures are in the wrong order but pic 3 shows where the spring loaded brass tab sits pic 2 shows barrel out and locking tab you need to release pic 1 is barrel being re inserted , you just need to leaver the tang in gently and barrel slides home
