Gixerjonah Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Could anyone shed some light on the likely source of my starting problem on my 1100M please. When the starter button is pushed the starter makes a whinning sound like a jet engine starting !!!! it does eventually start the motor but there is an obvious problem. Is it most likely to be the motor itself (armature brushes ect) relay or starter clutch ?? Quote
cregnybaa Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 The starter clutch may have come loose, take l/h engine cover off and check. Quote
Gixerjonah Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Is it just a case of threadlocking and torquing the bolt back up ?? Quote

Yes, clean all mating surfaces and apply a good quality threadlocking agent. As that bolt has one of the highest torque settings on the whole bike (I.I.R.C. 150nm?) I normally ram the fucker home with an air impact gun on it's highest setting till I get the required 'bastard tight' setting needed. Quote
Gixerjonah Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Is a special lock up tool required ? Quote
