Swingarm swaps for 1100L slingshot.

So in my hunt for a front end l think it's as cheap (not) to find a whole bike and strip it for everything I need.

Which leads me to the rear wheel and swingarm. I'm after losing weight so a wheel swap would be good. What would l gain swapping the swingarm? Apart from gaining a better shock with the donor bike.

Reading through the threads it seems a lot of hassle for limited returns, unless I'm missing something.

Aside from looks i don't think there is a lot to be saved weightwise with an arm swop

Shocker wise there are plenty of aftermarket options

Wheels can make a huge difference both in weight and handling

If your into serious weight loss "For the bike" have a read of  beware it contains a lot of real carbon fibre porn :pimp:

Depends on what you're looking for. W braced swing arms bolt right up and you get a slightly lighter wheel. Early K series swing arms will fit with a bracket or new shock mount. Lots of shock upgrades available with the stock swing arm, fewer with a braced swing arm unless you're willing to move the battery tray.

How much weight are you looking to lose and how much money are you willing to spend?

As I'm working less and have more time I'm getting bits together to eventually get this bike back on the road. It's the only one I've kept all the way through I've had it 25 odd years.

I'd like to lose as much weight as possible as simply as possible, so I'm in the planning stage. There was a Suzuki front end on Eblag with a back wheel for around the £900 mark a couple of weeks ago. Looked good to me but needed further inspection. I want to get it right before I shell out which is why I'm on here asking questions.

Appreciate any opinions. I may start a project thread l can't be any slower than some of the others.:)

Start a thread and post up photos, we like photos. Does the bike still have the stock fairings or is it naked? If you're keeping the fairings, the 1100s like the clipons above the triple, which is something else to keep in mind with fork length on front end swaps. Rear wheels can be swapped, but all modern bikes have great big hollow rear axles, so you'll need to figure out bearings to fit our tiny rear axles, or just swap the swing arm and move all the frustration to the pivot and linkage.
