gs1000 frame number /vin number ???

right , been trying to track a reg number of my gs1000 frame to no avail , vin to reg and any other format do not recognise the frame number as the vin number , the frame is stamped with GS1000-52***1   and thats it , it either says insufficient digits or wrong format !! either "A" does anyone have a circa 1980s gs thou who could look at their log book and see if this a correct format or "B" point me any other direction , cheers its doing my F**kin head in

Get a friendly dealer to do an HPI check based on the VIN No. I had to do this for a lost V5 and no reg. plate - gave that and loads of other data, shouldn't cost more than £10

cheers but the frame number doesnt come up as a vin thats what im saying obviously the frame number isnt the vin !!!! dont know haha

That frame number is the correct format. Later format has 17 digits I think, the vin #.

Have you actually HPI'd it, as that frame No. is fine - the one I did was KZ550G 00**77 so I know it works with non 17 figure sequences!

Standardized 17 digit VIN came out in '82 (or so)

If you're filling out a computer form put zeros at the end... or beginning... I guess
