Pegleg Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Anybody found a foolproof way to remove the four studs that don't let oil through? Tried the double nut but too much twist in the stud. Got spares so not bothered about saving them. Ta. Quote
Pegleg Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 Looks like they are a water trap. Can see corrosion in the dowels. Properly got hold of the studs. Will try welding a nut on low down with loads of heat. Failing that a machine shop job. Quote
imago Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Welding a nut on near the bottom will shift them most of the time. Make sure it's big enough to drop over the stud and leave a little gap between the stud and the nut, IIRC M12 was just right. That way you get more heat into the stud itself. If that doesn't work then cut them flush, centre pop and drill them out. It's not too bad a job. Quote

McLean Racing Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Split the cases, put the stud in a bench vise close to the case, heat the inside of the cases and twist the cases back and forth till it free's up. Ive never not had one come out this way 4 Quote
