Dark Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Hi all, wasn’t expecting this to be my first post, but here goes, recently bought a GSX1100, very modified, only part of the original frame is the headstock, anyhow the Mikuni Flatside spring is sticking in my inner thigh, see picture, I have seen these carbs before but the spring has always been between carb 1 and 2, question is can it be located to this position and is it a heap of work. any help appreciated Quote
Gixer1460 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Never done it but it shouldn't be a load of work and provided you are careful, should be pain free - 4 screws to hold body onto top / bottom rack bars and a fuel connection which should have a o ring in it to seal. How the spring is retained to be investigated prior I think! + undo slide lifting mechanism under top cover Quote
Dezza Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) I thought the spring usually goes where the throttle cable bracket is, which can be moved (mine is between 3 and 4 rather than stock between 2 and 3). If it's on the left like that, a longer throttle bar is needed. My guess is your carbs used to have the cable bracket on the side and you still have the longer bar and spring on the side. I'd send pics of the complete set to Allens and ask what they think. Maybe fitting the normal length throttle bar and repositioning the spring at the same time will solve the problem. Dark Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 Thank you I’ll have a go this coming weekend as I need to replace the fuel lines. Quote
