Zracer7 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 New to the forum and rebuilding top end of a 1979 Suzuki GS750 looking for a good brand of gasket set for the motor. Athena brand popped up on Eblag. Are they any good? Any help would be appreciated Quote
Arttu Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I have used Athena gasket sets few times. No complaints about quality. 2 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Second that for Athena. Decent quality, affordable. And, welcome to OSS, by the way! Edited January 1 by Swiss Toni 2 Quote
Wellington Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Happy New Year All, I just got a 1979 GS 1000 . I do know i will be needing gaskets as well. Figure i will eventually take side covers off and hit them with paint stripper for the clear coat first. Then re-polish and re-clear coat. Noticed gasket availability not so good. I will keep info above for future order. Trying to locate replacement KERKER baffle has been not so good though. Any thoughts...Header is period correct so im not replacing . Think i am going to blast it with peanut shells to clean so i don't Eff up the chrome. Paint stripper shouldn't wank up the aluminum but never tried this approach before. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated....Thanks Quote
Swiss Toni Posted January 1 Posted January 1 @WellingtonCometic’s always an option. Your casings will be fine with paint stripper. Be sure to neutralise with baking soda, or the paint will react. Quote
