I have been having trouble with my fuel pump i have had 4 of which two leaked one second which did nothing and one got so hot i couldnt touch it then stopped working

i now have one that is leak free and i can feel it pumping until the bike fires then stops 

any information or ideas gratefully received

They aren't supposed to run continuously - they pump while the float valves are open and when they close the back pressure stops the pump - its normal!

i just looked at the 1100g ones and they are 2 wires the rf is 4 wires im not a great auto electrician so what do the other 2 wires do

Earth, side stand switch, coil feed and ignition.
