Pegleg Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Just trying to decide if a 50000ml bottom end is worth putting a used barrel and pistons on. Got the bike very cheap for a summer hack. Exhaust ports are annihilated so took the head off with a view to putting a spare dot head on, and found rust in one cylinder. Is the mileage about it for a 12? Have to say the valve train looks in great nick. Opinions please. Quote

Agree used to knock about with a guy with high 90k+ miles on his b12 ran good apart from a puff of smoke from the valve stem seals, agency driver at work had a 600 showed 80 odd when the speedo went on strike carried on running it ,looked like it ha been on the titanic ran sweet, 1 Quote

TonyGee Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I remember once at the streetfighter's do at Sheffield one of the stunt bikes was a B12, it was a red hot day and Garry Rothwell was doing a burn out till the tyre popped, the headers where glowing red I asked him later about it and he said he does it all the time on that bike. tough as old boots 1 Quote
