Its due to short Arse'es with stumpy legs chopping the foam down, so they can reach the floor instead, of changing the ride height properly with the different dog bones

That picture of the silver one, is a 95/96 pre production model, very few of them were ever sold, you can tell buy the lack of holes in the lower engine mount and the GSXR type swinging arm, it could have a different seat but good luck finding a part number for it, ive had one of those years ago and there were lots of small differences between it an the 96 production model, seat was the same though,  I had terrible trouble finding the correct parts list for it.

And… is there any other differences in the 2006 (ish) model that offers an adjustable 2 piece seat other than the seat itself? 

I checked the numbers and it  offers a -0.2’ seat height but goes higher than the earlier model.

you do know that the MK1 and MK2 seats are totally diferent ?

I don’t mean the differences in the mk1 and 2, I mean the 2006/k6 with the adjustable seat and the previous model.
