one01stAB
Hello, I'm starting a budget cafe racer build on a 1980 Suzuki GS850G and had a question about lowering the front fork. I've watched a video from a you tuber called "For The Bold" where he lowered the forks on a Suzuki GS550 (link below) but those didn't appear to have any pneumatic capabilities. I've watched another video where another you tuber rebuilt the front forks on GS850 (link below). What i'm asking is can I cut the spring and add a spacer like for the bold did but on a fork in the second video. Sorry if this isn't super clear. If lowering the fork this way isn't capable is there another way or do I have to just lower the stanchions on the triple tree? thanks for the help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3A0RF87ly6E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvEIxThaK1M&t=1294s Link to comment
Gixer1460
If you cut / shorten the spring then add a spacer - you've achieved nothing! If you want a lower front end with less travel, you shorten the spring and the stanchion or slide the stanchions up through the trees! Or loose the 19" wheel and use a 17" - choices, choices! Captain Chaos
First of all introduce yourself in general chat. And then don't build a cafe racer. 5 Link to comment
