Treybear31 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 (edited) Hi I’m hoping that someone will be able to help me with a problem I have. I have a custom hardtail frame that had a gs750 front end on it, which fits but wasn’t great. I want to use my 2004 bandit 1200 wheels & brakes for my build. However, the stem on my bandit is longer than the one on the Gs750. My question is can I press the gs750 stem into my bandit yoke? thanks Trey Edited April 18, 2020 by Treybear31 Quote
mkoppeser Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I've put a 2002 bandit front end on my 78 GS1000 and the GS stem fit perfectly in the Bandit yoke. You have to redo the stop and steering lock though. Quote
wraith Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Welcome to OSS As above you can swap stems, but you will need to do something with lock stops. Now you're here we like pics of projects and Suzuki bikes Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Hello yes. Bandit stems are longer than the GS/GSX/GSXR headstocks which as a rule all take the same bearing sizes. I think GS750 was oddball for suzuki and used a smaller diameter stem. So if your frame has been built with a GS750 headstock i don't think you'll be able to use the normal route of GSXR stem in bandit yokes. Best thing is to pull your front end out and have the stem pressed out and then measure where it fits into the yoke and compare with bandit. Oh and pop over to General chat and introduce yourself, show photos of your bike, tell us how you will buy us all beer for being awesome etc. Quote

mkoppeser Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I had to send mine out to get done. I tried on a small bench press and couldn't budge it. Quote
wraith Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Instead of spending lot of bike money on a press just make one a good hydraulic car Jack and make a frame out of some box steel Quote
Ade Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I got a 12ton press for £89. The courier took a long time to deliver it so I ended up with a £15 refund on shipping. Made it £64. Happy with that. Quote
