fastlab
On a 78 GS750E Ive tried everything to remove the half c-clip that holds the front sprocket shaft seal in and cant seem to get it. whats the proper way to remove it without breaking it? Quote Link to comment
Guest YoshiJohnny
unfortunately that lives in a groove in the case..needs splitting Quote Link to comment
Swiss Toni
+1. He's right! They're pretty wide, and not very deformable, so it'd be difficult to try and 'spring' it out! I'm not saying impossible, but I've never heard of it being done. And then, you'd have to fit a new one on top of the new seal, assuming you could get the old seal out anyway. Split the cases, leaving the top end intact. Not really a big job, once the motor's out ... but far safer! Quote Link to comment
fastlab
Well parts for these GS's are still being made so i can get all the seals needed from a local parts store. what i ended up doing is drilling a tiny hole through the c clip at one of the ends and using a pick to spring it out similar to how c clip pliers use holes to grip. then it popped right out and was able to remove the old seal and install a new one! Swiss Toni
Well done! A new dodge that works! Might pay for anyone building an engine, to pre-drill that 'half moon' spacer before fitting? Just in case! Every day's a school day! Edited April 11, 2019 by Swiss Toni Quote Link to comment
