JayRoberts Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Hello, this is my first post on here and hoping someone may be able to put a in the right direction. I have a MK1 Suzuki gsf bandit 600 1999 bought recently as a project, koso digital clocks, led headlights, went over the loom and noticed the ignition wouldn’t turn anything on (clocks, lights etc) So, I disconnected the ignition connector and “hotwired” the ignition to try get power and the side stand relay started to click, then I removed the relay and the clocks and lights came on.. my guess is the Chinese aftermarket ignition barrel it came with has no resistor inside the ignition as do the standard ones, would this literally stop the electrics completely? Also I know there is an earth at the rear of the engine but I’m wondering is there any earths that go directly to the frame? Pic of the ignition below..any info be much appreciated so thanks in advance! Jay Quote
JayRoberts Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 Yes the 1999 mk1 600s are air/oil cooled. Quote
Blubber Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Have tried an aftermarket ignition barrel myself and also experienced electrical oddities. In my case I could only get the light working in the "P" parking position . Ignition never worked. I opened up the offending switch and noticed that internally it was wrongly bridged and I couldn't get it to work properly due to that. From memory one pin needed to bridge 3 contacts. Switched back to an original switch and never looked back. Quote
JayRoberts Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 Thanks for the reply blubber, I’m thinking of just sourcing a used original to save the hassle. 1 Quote
