  1. Kat 1230 - 17/18 rims - 520 chain 17/46 sprockets - want closer to standard, I assume i am correct this is setup for acceleration? I have only ridden the bike a few times as it was a race bike. Now being setup for the road. So saying that going to a smaller front or larger back will give it better top end? 18 front and 17 rear Katana Rims From the searching I have done I should replace the rear sprocket to a 49 is closer to standard, but this will shorten the chain. How much will a 49 move the rear wheel forward? Am I correct?

  3. The velocity stacks are a tight fit on the the rs36's had to get some emery cloth on to them to get them to fit. The do not seem to go all the way to the lip of the stack, so there is a gap between the two of a few mm. They are air tight so assume its not a problem.
  4. Here we go again... at least I have part numbers - high flow oil pump gears 1150. I have found the following info... 750 oil pump gears for GS1150. The standard gears are 34 drive 33 driven. The 750 gears are 38 drive, 29 driven. Driven Oil pump gear 16331-45000 GEAR, OIL PUMP DRIVE 16321-45002 SPACER 16325-45001 BEARING 09263-36002 Are the spacer and bearing needed? I have removed the original gears and have ordered the above parts but are the spacer and bearing needed? I would have thought they are a direct swap?
  5. This is what I have purchased. Looks like the oil pressure switch can be still used?
  6. GS1100 and GS1150 pressure switch / top end oil connector the same? Not sure what to call it but the housing that bolts on to the back of the engine under the carbs.... is the 1150 and 1100 units interchangeable? How important do people rate the oil pressure switch? Im running a 1230efe in a kat and are looking to add a top end oiler but I will lose the oil pressure switch. Unless I get a facny unit that has this connection... is the cost worth it? This unit is for a 1100 will it fit a 1150?
  7. Thanks for the info, purchased. Purchased the filters of evilbay as the shipping to NZ was 12 pounds, not 45 pounds on the Ramair web site!!!!!
  8. so are these the right ones... http://www.Eblag.com/itm/Suzuki-Mikuni-RS-flatslide-genuine-bellmouths-50mm-length-/252354503300 also what size filter, there seems a few to choose from.. http://www.ramair-filters.co.uk/products/motorcycle/sock-filters-motorcycle/ thanks for the help.. being in NZ I do not want to get the wrong ones.
  9. Ok here is a option, just a thought before I buy these. The current Motion pro unit has a quick turn throttle. Will using the Bandit throttle make much difference? Also this has not head light off switch, standard switch gear does allow for the headlight to be turned off. Law has changed so its it law to have head light on so I can rewire.
  10. I have purchased a 1230 Kat race bike, bike runs great, the bike has Dyna mini coils DC1-2 and the old Kat ignition system, not CDI. Is this ok long term? Plan is to use motor on the road. See note below from Dyna regarding mini coils......... I also have a set of Dyna Ignition Coils 3 ohm Dual Output DC1-1 Wires DW-200 Suzuki GS1150. Should i stick with the mini coils or change to the big green jobs? Next option is up grading the ignition to CDI or Dyna 2000. Is the effort worth while? If I keep the mini coils do i need to change the ignition as stated? I will post a picture of current ignition setup tomorrow. The engine has no charging system so a new stator is required... what is recommended? Thanks IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use these 3 ohm mini coils with the Dyna S ignition. They will overheat and the ignition and coils may be destroyed. Dynatek recommends the 5 ohm coils with stock points ignitions and the Dyna S ignition for all Gurls blouse SOHC 4 cylinder bikes from the 70's NOTE:When choosing the right coil for your bike, never select a coil with a lower resistance than your ignition system, this will cause the coils to overheat and burn out. It's OK to select coils with a slightly higher resistance. For example 3.0 ohm coils with a 1.5 ohm CDI ignition. While this isn't optimal, it works and allows you to switch your CDI ignition over to a Dyna-S in the future.
  11. Anyone know the beat place to purchase a new wiring loom for Katana? I see Webike has one for exchange of a first born! is the the best option?
  12. Want to replace a motion pro push / pull throttle with one that has switch gear. What is the best option? Bandit or GSXR? Hoping someone will have done this and be able to offer some advice.
  13. HI, I have a new Kat project which has a 1230EFE installed, this bike uses the original Kat igniter. My other Kat uses the EFE CDI. Which is the best option? Plan to buy a new loom as mine is shit and then install the 1230 in to my Kat, and sell the old engine. So which is the best? modify new loom to use CDI? or keep the 1230 using the Kat igniter? I have 2 x igniters and 3 x CDI's Also what is a Kat tank worth? original with wear and tear but in good nic?
  14. assuming your ET front end is the same as my Katana front end, I used early CBR900 discs, just had to open up the holes to fit. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?140253-Twinpot-Brake-upgrade-on-78-Skunk/page7 Here is a good place to start. This post will tell you everything you need if you want to keep the same wheels and forks. hope it helps
  15. Really nice... I think I need to start saving

  17. Question will later model katana foot pegs fit an 81 kat?
  18. And when you get that template can I have a copy....PLEASE!
  19. What a find, unbelievably good value. I have one also that I am updating with modern running gear but the look of a long swing arm is mean... how un practical is a bike like that to ride on open twisty roads? Yes I have other bikes so why not something that looks like it should be doing 8sec... is the handling sooo bad around corners that I would never use the bike?
  20. Good question, I am also interested in such a kit. How do we get in touch with ............ steve at luckyseven Looks like a great kit.
