    Hey guys,

Would anyone have any knowledge of these RC Components rims?

Was told they are from 89 750.

    Front rim is stamped 2450

    Rear rim is stamped 2455DR

Front has 320mm discs with very little offset

    Rear has 244.5mm disc

sprocket mounting holes are 6 x 70mm centre to centre

    Google turned up up nothing.

U need to work out the PCD and then look up the brake discs catalogues with the dimensions.

Bearing diameters are easy enough and cheap to change thru a bearing shop, just buy new bearings with the correct inner diameter. easy peasy

  2. i totally agree, they def look out of place.....but as a qik option to upgrade front calipers its def worth a go.

I had EBC GPFAX pads with ZX10 calipers and PFM iron discs. On the track they performed just as good as anything ive had in the performance market.

How rigid is a frame like that? What's the size of the tank?

Tank is very similar to the W model, and prob bout the same 17-18lt size, as far as the frame i dont think it would have alot of flex so pretty more suited to the track id think.

I've got a Sigma after market slipper in my 1216 motor. They are a bit border line in taking the power from 160+ bhp motors  but its worked fine for me with 157bhp.

yeah thats what i was going to go for as well Duncan. I wont be pushing anymore than 150-155 out of her. but i keen to see how it performs on track.

    How do you find it...?

    Well guys,

Bit of a small/pointless update. Monday evening I picked up donor bike number FIVE for this project... For absolutely zero reason at all other than it was CHEAP and only a couple hours away. 1995 US model, 16K on the clock, missing tank, side fairings, *carbs* (remember that for later), and front cowl/headlight. It was so cheap I asked zero questions other than "was the bike covered after carbs were removed" seller's reply to that was "yes, all ports were plugged and bike was kept under a tarp since then".

Well, you probably already know where this story is headed... Wrote up a quick bill of sale, gave the man his $300, and loaded up in the middle of the Pennsylvania woods at around midnight. Super dark out, couldn't see much of anything. Didn't look, didn't ask, didn't care.

Tore into the bike last night to find my gut suspicions confirmed... Intake ports are all orange, valves look like doodoo, and of course one set of intakes was open so there's about 1/4" of water in that cylinder, although the others had some too. Locked up solid. SMH!!! Crazy how careless/clueless people can be. Real shame because it looked well cared for otherwise.

With that said, my last minute plan of finding a spare stock motor to run in the meantime while I build this current one is canceled. I'm going in!!!

sucks to hear dude.....its always the same story, ppl have no idea. I hope u salvage something from it. for 300 bucks at least u have a frame and bits u can sell off. Everything is becoming more and more rare for these things atm.

Yep sometimes its worth shopping around. I buy my TMR's from japan. alot cheaper than buying them here.

Bike is coming along great , i wanna see these colours bolted up.

    Thank you sir..:tu

The frame is the one thing I cant make my mind up, its a bit rough in bits and needs re powder coaitng. BUT what colour????????  i quite like the white but i also like the gunmetal grey shiny stuff..

For this summer its staying as is.. I might doe the seat blue to match the front mudguard but not sure..

Few bits to finish off, make the back brake work in case i need to get MOT, and the carbs need sorting properly.. few clips and cable

attatchemnts as well. then use the thing and see how it goes...

But all in all very pleased with the way its turned out...:tu:)

    before .............

    after,........

Not at all, i think the white frame is perfect, yeah sure repaint it at some point but leave it white.

If anything paint the ignition cover blk to match the clutch cover and put a smaller single KC Daylighter headlight on it with a yellow cover

  8. Yeah sorry i meant poly26 not Rofidal. I just edited the post a few secs ago.

Poly26 ones are very heavily built (priced accordingly to the materials used i guess). What they make is around 4mm thick.

Would be good to have something inbetween, thickness wise. How much bracing is needed with these thinner fairings ?

It really depends on how much flex they have. if they wave around like a flag, then painting them is a pain in the ass and they will crack at the bends every time there fitted or removed.

Laying another sheet of glass fibre inside will make it stronger but might also stiffen it alittle to the point it might not fit the shape u want. Another way to brace the fairings to the fittings is to rivet a small alloy piece around the mounting hole.

As u can see here on the nose fairing, the alloy piece is colour matched but it supports the mounting point on the clylinder head, same goes for the tail section near the footpeg heelplate

  9. yeah that sucks......the only other guys i know that do something close is Poly26. As im sure u know, are in france. The other person who might have something is Dave at HiFibre in wakefeild England (near Leeds).

Yoshi replica fairings are hard to get, its a shame Jason fibreman dosnt do them, cause his fairings are top notch.

Ignitech unit they do different versions i have three now and would recommend them

I would not recommend boyer not very reliable

I believe the dyna s is now discontinued also has become unreliable so I have been told, this seemed to coincide with manufacturing being shifted to Mexico

dyna 2000 fine but quite expensive for what you get

    What Mark said.

Highly recommend Ignitech. Have them on all my bikes. they have different versions for all applications. the basic version for a 4stroke is alot cheaper than a Dyna (which are shit in my opinion) and has an adjustable rev limiter and iginition curve.
