Thanks mate. I just bought a set of cylinders for my big bore kit. My originals are less than 20K perfect, would be a waste to bore them imho when a second hand set had for less that fifty quid. What do you mean by pairs?
-
Sorry chaps does anyone know?
-
I'll be honest, the bike has good tyres now, brakes fine, gsxrk8 shock progressive springs But the engine is a flat wheezy gasping thing with no punch. I love the them of this bike which is why I bought it. I'm just trying to find the shortest route to 150bhp.

Sorry I didn't realise how ambiguous it was until I read it myself.. I've got a mate whose got a mate whose got a rash, no sorry a late GSXR1100 motor, that I thought might make a better starting point for a high comp road engine. At least starting with decent power adding big bore and Cams and later head work. Might make the project go with a bang. Gonna go and see the lump

Which ones go straight in? Carbs and rubbers further complications?
-
Didn't we have an engine swap? I mean later GSXR1100

I gotta be honest.... I am really missing my Superbike..... The holy sh&t thafs rapid factor is..... missing... What I do enjoy... The smell of fuel, and exhaust, raw mechanical visceral sensation reminds me of my GSs my Zs etc. From the 80s..... I am stuck now.... Do I spent three grand in search of 150 bhp... Or just get another bike.

Thats always in vaccum when the engines running?
-
Doesn't that breather go into the intake?
-
Is thst breather filter all you used on the crankcase, no need for a one way valve?
-
That is promising Which big bore did you use?
-
First thing I did matey. say what now!? shock, pregressive front spring and braced rear arm coming next. All before I start the engine... Probably ride it and make a decision on upsidedowners and uprated calipers. Mind if I ask how your CVs get on wjtb the filters and what filters they are? CVs and airbox removal haven't gone so well for me lol

I am starting to put the bits together for my project. Exhaust, pistons, engineering, cams etc.... I am aiming for 150 at the wheel, Roger Upperton said the collection of bits I'm assembling should do the trick... Fair old wallop of dosh to rely on my spannering skills, but I've rebuilt a good few jap fours over the years so I don't forsee an issue with that. I'm just worried that... I'll always feel is lacking.. So used to Gixxers and late Fireblades, I love thr riding style and the feel of the bike is reminiscent of my old bikes I had when a younger man.. Had anyone built anything like this and been satisfied with the grunt?

Which is most common cooler or lines leak... Bandit 1200

I've got a replacement, for 85 quid from motorcycle parts warehouse Let's hope it doesn't turn into a consumeable. Comment - Suzuki Performance Parts.... Don't seem to want to sell me the one for one replacement, seemed very latent about telling me about it.. Mmmm.. Told me to call back another time to get the availability of the replacement part? Get the feeling he thinks my project is a time waster -
The only thing that puts me off the CVs is the fact that on other projects CVs gave problems with POD filters.. Combined with the fact I dunno how much a modded standard airbox is good for?

My cooler is fekked... Its leaking from the bottom gallery. Sprayed the whole thing down with break cleaner.... Completely blasted clean, the ran it up to temp at idle and sure enough those Lower fins in my pic started to fill. Balls. -

Yeah don't worry guys Traditional long standing biker this end, no waxed moustaches or butchered 70s Beemers in my garage. Just bought the Bandit for an engine build project, just nice to hang here to get the gen on the dos and don'ts and what breaks and what doesn't with these oil cooled engines -

No no..... That's tutakarmons mummified fingers reaching up the front of the engine. Previous owner, never my choice on this bike tbh -

Just thought a pic might help... I can see that the oil has either been forced up the rad by air flow and the o ring in the junction has gone, or the rad has a crack in the low left corner. -

Thanks guys..... Did you manage a repair on this or did you have to replace? -
Yeah that's what Roger said.
-
This is odd, Low mileage bike... A nice one. Bought for my project. The oil cooler seems to leak lower left hand side.. I removed the rad cover typical chrome affair period accessory (I quite like it) and stone me if the rad isn't perfect. No bent fins no distortion... Its difficult to make out if the rad is leaking from the left junction and some has gone up a tiny bit does to air flow.... Or if the lines are leaking at the junction between steel and flexi.... Where most of the oil at least due to gravity had gathered... Question is.... Do oil rads just spring leaks or are the lines known for going at the junctions? I'm gonna degrease it and warm the engine tomorrow

I spoke to Roger Upperton about my plans and he said the standard carbs were easily good for 150bhp plus.

Crash into the back of Lorry cos of keeping one eye on the oil pressure light lol....I'll check it out.
