  1. Started using the expensive stuff because of the water problem and some rust in the tank.

However I am 100 percent positive the engine is smoother. I've been riding bikes since I was, 14 built a fair few too.

Gen1 Hayabussa pistons in Bandit block, 79.00mm to 81.00mm bore

OCS quoted me £450 +VAT and couldn't do it for 2 weeks.

Barum were questioning the bore to piston clearance, saying it would sieze at 0.060 microns. (My bussa pistons measure 80.942mm)

Saunders in Southampton alot more resonable at £63 per bore.

Guess where my block is going?

Seems a fair endorsement for Barum as well

Saunders motor works at Cadnam near Southampton

    So 40 2nb

In my experience they are reliable and honest and do a really good job and explain what they have done and also tell you what can't be done when you take in something that is past saving O.o so I'd always recommend them

    Lovely bud. Ta.

  4. Anyone know, standard liners?

Surely paper thin by then lol..

12.5—1 Cr maybe too much on pump gas or are these racing only?

Can't find anyone selling who will pick up the phone.

Like the extra torque but at no extra practical cost if poss...

    Cheers lads

Powder coat will stop heat dissipating and keep your engine hotter, but I don't think paint will make much difference. Both silver and black engines are painted or clear coated.

If you're going to paint, get it soda blasted. vapour blast surfaces and paint don't play well together

It's being done by the most reputable and reliable blast refinishers that have done all my projects... RD Cox and Sons.... Highly recommended them.... All the others weren't painted however.... He knows his refinishing.

When it can do 100kms, it can do 2000kms

Well, I do agree sort of.

Having set out on long trips, and had to turn back on pretty amazing bikes.... However the best so far was 2014 Fireblade, GSXR1000R, ZX9R, the later one being insanely comfy, my record close to 1000miles in one day, due to marital breakdown and a last ditch and pointless trip to save it all... Doh...

Mine has been fine for the last 13 years since I built it.

fit a head cooler as well as  a 19 row  aftermarket one and it will be fine

few years back I did the charity ride through wotten  Bassett thousands of bikes and chugging along at 10 mph for ages. It did get hot but just pulled over and let it cool and it was fine

the next year I fitted a fan from an R6 with a switch and it helped Lots :tu

Indeed mate.. Thanks... I spoke to Rog Upperton and he said a head cooler was a tad OTT for non racing applications, but a bigger cooler in general would be great.... Its just the bloody things cost as much as the sodding head work.... Unless anyone knows of a budget method.

In warmer countries I know some owners have managed to fit a fan with a manual switch,  apparently with some success.  I believe these helped draw air through the cooler, but any air movement around the barrels helps too.

A big cooler is a lot of money

  9. Thanks all... Bloody informative that.

I built an XS Tracker and the carbs were murder with pods until I got the exact right pods.

    Never thought of DJ kit..

Will get one ASAP as I am removing air box and getting new headers before Xmas. The new barrels are hear and going off for blast cleaning

    As above and :

The only problem with big bore, high compression Oilers is heat build up in traffic. The fairing lowers on a gsxr make it worse, on a naked or 1/2 faired bike it wouldn't be so bad - a larger oil cooler would help a bit, but both the cooler and engine need air flowing through/around them.

    Fan on cooler?

  11. Anyone every pressed one of these mildly breathed on motors over big distances? I love a bit of long distance riding, have done some big miles in Europe in the passed...

Will I need additional oil cooling for a tuned bandit motor out and  about in France... Day after day?,
