  1. New coat of paint. image.jpeg
  2. This lump has been sitting in bits for months. Finally spent a few hours putting it all back together this weekend. Most folk opt to upgrade their engine. I've 'detuned' it on this build by fitting Busa pistons rather than the JE's I had in it. I have however done a bit of porting in the intakes and exhaust. A first for me on such an engine but I did have quite a bit of success years ago on Mini A series engines by porting and fitting larger valves from 1800 Marina heads. I've put the JE's on the shelf for now ready for an all out motor in a future project.
  3. It is now an adjustable yoke.
  4. Yes it is. Unfortunately I think my offset will be too small as I've got very poor lock to lock steering. This one will have to go in the scrap bin and make another. I could give it a go and turn this in to an adjustable yoke.
  5. I've been enjoying this for a few weeks now untouched by myself as of yet but do have plans. Only one issue so far is the generator for some reason cannot keep up with having the lights on and soon runs the battery down.
  6. I'm putting it back to something a bit closer to the look in '88
  7. I didn't own it in '88 bit believe it to be a Harris seat unit and early Gsxr race fairing.
  8. Mine pre crash in 2013. No frame damage but a dink in the fuel tank. It is now undergoing a very slow rebuild using many 'trick' parts.
  9. Yes, nice find and is indeed a Spondon beam and the same as mine. There were 7 built and only six remaining I believe as one got stolen early on and broke up.
  10. Same as I bought. Good quality too. I've not done anything about fitting it yet. Since it is race stuff you do need to do a fair bit of final prep before paint.

    Engine removal?

Only the best malts of course.
  12. ....I think 'frame removal' is more apt.
  13. The main problem with HSR is not the size of float bowl. Increasing the size will not help as it's the flow into the bowl that's the restriction. It doesn't matter how big you make it, it'll still run low on big power if you can't supply the fuel. The first mod to do is REDUCE the needle valve size to 0.8mm and supply with 3-4psi fuel pump. You can reduce the restriction further by doing away with the tight fuel elbow into the bowl, replacing it with a straight connector. The standard needle is larger but will allow fuel to push past and overflow if you use a pump. My hsr42 will flow more than twice the original set up. At 4psi it will flow over 5 litres/min.
  14. Been making changes to my Spondon. Hopefully these will stop me.
  15. My first attempt at this sort of thing. I've got the gear but no idea. I better start using it or sell it.

    Fork swaps

Technical help required. I currently have a pair of Gsxr 600/750 k6/7 forks fitted on my Spondon. The yokes are 53mm (bottom) and 50mm (top). I aim to fit a pair of r1 forks as they have the 130mm caliper mounts and I want a pair of ISR 6 pots which are 130mm. Firstly do you think it is okay for me to mill out the bottom yoke wall by 0.5mm to give the extra 1mm diameter even though there isn't a huge amount of meat on them to start with? Secondly I have a pair of Gsxr 100 wheels which I'd like to keep and use in the forks. Are R1 spindles a possible option to fit the Gsxr wheel or would I just be better off getting r1 wheels? just that I have no reliable information on all sizes, diameters and spacing of all options. Making spacers is not an issue. Youre input is gratefully received.
  17. Nothing broke at all. I only changed to JE pistons because I had them on the shelf. The engine is still running but I am taking it apart in the next few weeks to refresh it if needed.
  18. Just found a complete '88 race fairing. Ordered it
  19. Standard bandit rods.
