  1. Standard ali 1100et arm , 530 chain , 3/8th offset sprocket from Debben , b6 calliper hung down , et rear sprocket carrier ( fits into b12 wheel and keeps chain inline ) , you will need to cut a v small amount off the inside of your sprocket cover . A 180 tyre will fit but you will then have about 3mm clearance - chain to tyre . Not enough in my books . U can drop chain size further, cut and shut frame and loose strength on smaller chain etch etc etc . But for me a 170 works fine . Pm me if you get stuck . Meanwhile back to the front end and my forks pls ????
  2. Hi all . Have decided its time to beef up the front end on my 7/11 et . If possible I want to try and keep from massive changes . ATM I have all original 750 et front end inc forks , clocks , lights , wheel , disc . I know the easy way would be simply putting on 1100 et forks , 2 or 3mm difference I think on the thickness of each fork . ( will this make much difference ?? ) Am running on the rear a 1100 et arm , bandit 12 wheel with 170 , 530 chain with offset front sprocket . 1170 wiseco with rs 36 Miks and 4-1 v+h . So other than the rear wheel - there has not been many visual changes . Any thoughts from those in the know please ?? Cheers
  3. Does anyone have a camshaft identification lists for air cooled and oil cooled .? OR Now that I have my nice new shiny valves and guides in place (gsx1170 et) I have a question about camshafts . I have two pairs in good condition one pair is marked up as "r1 k" and the other pair are "r1 j" can anyone tell me please - which set would be the best suited for a bike set up as follows v ang h 4in1 rs Miks 36mm pipercross ffilters Cheers
  4. hi all, so my et had a katana flywheel (smaller in size from standard et) which was fine until one day it spun up and wore itself down . they are difficult to replace from what I see - and most used ones have some wear due to spin up or the dreaded "clang" experience. so does anyone know of any other flywheel alternative ? perhaps a modern day Suz has one the same size ?

  7. yes some interesting cam advice indeed. look into my eyes look into my eyes - and your back in the room !!! was perhaps thinking of recut et cams to efe spec - presuming efe cams are slightly higher spec ?????? would like to keep the et cams for the rev count drive. any thoughts ?
  8. Bike is running good , and handling mods well dealt with thanks . But there is always room for improvement , even on a road bike . I do have a set of slots but my cam setting up skillls have, shall we say ,never been explored .
  9. hi all, any advice on best cams for 1170 engine with stock 1100 valves and rs 36 miks. Bike only for street use. stick with stock or ?????
  10. with the 530 chain,9mm offset front sprocket and a 180 tyre, it left me with about 4mm clear to tyre wasn't very comfortable with such a small tolerance,so opted for the 170 and Avon av60 tyre. laser adjusted chain so dead straight . any further out on the front sprocket would mean frame rub and chain off line - imho. tyre sizes are not always spot on depending on make. I found this article very usefull http://www.gsx1100.com/site4/tips/offset_sprocket.php
  11. Won't let me post pic - file to big . ????
  12. I did this on my 1100et , 1100et swinging arm (ali) standard, bandit 12 rear wheel , et carrier, 170 tyre, offset sprocket and 530 chain / rear sprocket,, dropped calliper down to bottom ( b6 calliper) , bespoke dog bone made up to act as calliper stay which goes from calliper up to lower shock mount. no frame mods required . not sure if gs frame is same as et but sure someone here can confirm that. pm if you wish will post a pic shortly.
  13. was my initial thought but a lot of extra weight , and the thought of dieting to compensate was more than I could handle !!
  14. had read somewhere about install momentary switch on ignition to allow cranking speed build up, or manual retarder. will look into the efe adjustments. thanks
  15. anyone else ever suffered with slow cranking probs? (apart from after Friday night at the dog and dragon) Have 1170 wiseco, good battery, good earth /leads and good starter plus tried other starters just in case. stock cams at stock settings.ignition timing bang on - both static full advance and strobe @‌ 3500 checks marry up well. any advice /experience ??
