Howdy fellas
As you may have seen in my Slabby thread, I'm currently stripping a few engines I got.
the plan is I want to build a decent motor, which will be fed by 750l 38mm carbs and have a full cobra system.
So I am looking for any advice or tips or indeed modifications I should be doing whilst I'm in there.
I have a vast amount of spares now which is at least 4 of everything, but I'm stripping down to measure and check everything before I put one together.
Thanks in advance
George

Drew round some 750 ones recently for @GeorgeEI7KOit's on graph paper each big square is 10mm.
Fitted an 1127 motor into a 750 frame perfectly. Thanks again. @clivegto

Mine started life as an 86 750 LE for the JDM market. I have the letter from Suzuki and all to confirm this. It has no vin plate but the headstock is perfectly stamped. Not like yours at all.

That was only a slabside thing, all of the slingshot 750 frames had the removable frame rail.
Ah.... Stupid paddy.

What model 750 frame was reputed to be the best for handling, and is there that much difference between the 750 & 1100 frames?
Was always maintained the 750 was the better frame as it didnt have the removable downtube

Different cam chains used in the GSXR1100 and Bandit 1200 engines. So may need bandit cams or swap the cam wheels over ?
ah ok. I see. Other than that tho it would work??

I have a question concerning a V710 motor I got
I got it very cheap as it was disassembled but there is no crank. Will a b12 crank fit as I know where there is one of them.
Any advice would be gratefully received

Dezza , no your not missing anything. I think there has been a bit of confusion throughout this thread and I've added to it by misunderstanding your reply when you quoted " the cdi produces sparks ............. ". I took this to mean this is what the CDI unit SHOULD do, whereas you were basically quoting what i had described !!
Durrrrrrrr ! Thank you for your input , much appreciated. I may swap the loom for a B12 ( winter project ) as old gsxr parts are getting hard to find.
GeorgeE17KO: Cheers for the info , do you know of anyone who repairs these units ?
Gaz
if you can get it apart without totally fucking it up is more of an issue. I've repaired a few in my time. If memory serves isn't there a place in London that repairs ECU's? Be worth asking them. https://www.carmoelectronics.co.uk/index.php?main_page=page&id=11

Most likely a shorted MosFET transistor in the CDI . The usual cause...

Yes the chassis / frame number. Is there a chart to identify it from anywhere?

Mine is GR71G JDM also. 1986 and confirmed by Suzuki as a GSX750R-2. Has it factory bungs welded in the swingarm for the paddock stand bobbins? Thats another clue...

First port of call would be the ignition pickup, and make sure all is tickety boo there and work yer way back. Could even be something as daft as the contacts on the kill switch. With electrickery, anything is possible...

Yes it is a great starting point, just need a pile of cash to sort it out and make it shiny, might have to flog the teapot to pay for it though
Seeing as you threw it down the track recently, I'll give you 50 quid for it..... Ha!

If it is just on loan and it runs, and you will be giving the engine back as a runner what's the problem ?
