  1. I have read the rules but the word not to use was not specified. I won't use the H word again.
  2. Did it again. Big motorcycle company from japan starting with H
  3. What is with the Gurls Blouse ? Gurls blouse is what I typed strange things these smart computers.
  4. Please consider the last piston pictured being mated to your combustion chamber that has had a taper cut starting at about 2-3mm in from cly wall dia. with a 3*-5* taper to the center of the combustion chamber. In the old days it was called a hemi cut now they call it softening the chamber. Gurls blouse has written several papers on the subject . Darin Morgan has done much work on this. It works on both 2V and 4V apps. This mod really helps tamp down det. on large dose N2O and high boost engines. All edges must have radius a run the Piston to head clearance at the edges close to touching at high rpm. By reducing the amount of tight parallel areas between the piston and the head via the taper cut pumping losses are also reduced . Try pulling two perfectly flat plates apart keeping them flat to each other. Similar effect shows a jetting effect when process is reversed. However the end goal is not to attain the highest jet effect only enough for movement of end gasses to center of combustion chamber for burn. The taper cut on the combustion chamber still promotes the jetting effect but allows the flame front to initiate burn sooner in the peripheral areas tamping down detonation. cutting this taper on the piston does not give the same effect as cutting the chamber. Lots of info on this , start with searching the Speedtalk forums started by Terrell.
  5. Is the step at the bottom of the sleeve flush with the bottom of the block ?
  6. Very nice ride , since I am over here on the commie left coast of the U.S. I am unfamiliar with FBM . I am very interested in the clutch cover. Is it a one off or are they available for sale . I will be in the Cambridge area in two weeks , would like to look up and stop in if FBM is a shop open to business . I am trying to fit a MTC lock up to my MKII Bandit using the early style spring clutch basket. That cover would seem to work well for the direction I am heading. Big block and blower not turbo. Sent FBM a message on the facebook page you listed. I am not used to using that at all not sure it will go through. I was hoping FBM had a normal web page. Would sure like to buy one of those covers if not to dear on $$$.

  8. Any one have experience with Mega cycle cams as far as life expectancy on the street . I have similar concerns as Thomas when it comes to longevity .I see they do the hard face welding and grinding mods to the followers. I would want to get more than 1000 miles of riding out of them. 1340 big bore and custom pistons to keep comp. to around 11.0:1 .
  9. Any one know of a source for quality master link for the Hy-Vo type cam chain found in the B12 engines. I think the FJ 1200 uses the same series chain but longer . The FJ chain is longer than what I think I will need, that is the reason for seeking out source for master link.
  10. Thank you , I can work with that. I will contact John in a couple of months about carving another one. He lives next door to my In laws. I know he is busy making ventilators right now for this covid 19 crap.
  11. What is the distance/clearance between face of pressure plate and the inside face of cover. I could make spacer to allow for the lock up arms that stick up from pressure plate where five spring bolts go in. Looks like its deep enough but actual dimensions would help. One other thing is Fastec allowed to sell more or was this one the only one they will make? John at Fastec has made quite a number of kool stuff for various bikes.
  12. That Fastec clutch cover looks like it should work with some of the aftermarket lockup clutches. Very nice ! One of those would be killer on my 01' Bandit.
  13. At one time Falicon offered billet cranks up to 8mm additional stroke but that company has left sunny Florida and gone to Ohio I think. Stated they no longer do crank work. There are rumors of one of the 8mm falicon billet cranks floating around here. I am trying to chase it down. Not sure of how much clearance grinding needs to be done in the cases to swing all that. Currently trying to wrap my brain around the oiling system changes (re routing) needed when using these big blocks. Both of them have a blockoff pin in the oil transfer goove leading from the rear stud hole. That tells me I have to route oil from that stud to the front some how but not alter the use of factory restriction inserts. Like I said studying this oil system , I have factory manual showing oil routes.
  14. New here to the site. I am collecting parts and info in hopes of building my B12 into a big inch street bruiser that I can also start making passes down the strip again on. I am just a few years from retirement as a machinist for the City storm and sewer dept. Stinky job but pay is good. Any way I want to start on this bandit 1200 01' model. Already have extra head as a core for the followers and cams to be sent to Megacycle to be welded up and redone. I plan on getting oversize valves and doing a bit of port work. Bought two Big blocks for the project. One is a virgin, never had sleeves installed and seems to have a bit more material to work with. The second one is lighter in aluminum content and appears to have sleeves in it that can be cleaned a bit and pistons installed (86mm for a 1371) . This block is o'ringed and has more and thinner fins than the virgin unit. I have some Gen I busa rods to use. I plan on sending the crank(B12) out for welding and stroking (4mm-5mm) . Wondering how well does the Hyvo style timing chain hold up in a performance application when RPM is held down to no more than 9000? Or do I need to score an earlier GSXR 1100 crank that used standard style chain. Already spent some time reading many posts on this site but did not see info about this. I look forward to this build and posting the results here on the site.
