You need to have a better look at the gsxr1000 arm. It's connected to the pivot with a very stiff chunk of ally as @Sandman says

As you can see the bracing stops short of the pivot. Agreed it is a stiff chunk of ally but it doesn’t go all the way to the pivot tube.

  2. I would love to do a track day. I am a complete virgin never done one before. What possibly can go wrong? Besides it would be good to meet up with some of you guys and put faces to names.

  3. I’m confused now. What do you want to know? First you’re asking if they’re stock (which they aren’t). Then you’re asking which type of jet to use. A good starting point would all four pilot jets of the same size and make. Seeing as you have Mikuni carbs then I would use Mikuni pilot jets of a size that you feel to be a good starting point. Dynojet ones from the bandit 1200 kit are marked as JM 018 which work well for the state of tune of your bike.
mikuni standard pilot jets for your bike are marked like this:DE8C6918-E2D2-404E-9EE7-D3C0E90F432F.thumb.jpeg.42faa40a684db93b644eacc691177f4a.jpeg

the width of the nozzle of the jet I measured as 2.47 mm

    hope this helps

  4. Give these folk a call http://www.pittedforks.co.uk/ they re-chromed my forks a few years ago and it worked out about half the price of a new set of stanchions. I don't know how much it will be now but their work is good and my forks are still good today. They did a collect and delivery as part of the cost and they removed the stanchions from the fork bottoms which is a real pain in the arse on USD forks. But like Gixer1460 says it may prove a lot cheaper to buy a good second hand set. Best do some research on the prices mate.

  5. Hi Ernie I have got the basic set up you have, I'm running mk2 carbs with dual pod filters and an Akropovic full system. I put a dyno jet stage 3 in and it worked sound. I put it on a dyno and it was fine just a bit if tweeking with the needles. So in answer to your question yes it is worth a dyno jet and a bit of dyno time. If you don't go down the road of a dyno jet system you need bigger mains and a dyno run minimum to sort your fueling. I've just checked the DJ kit and this should give you a good starting point all info for the stage 3 kit:

Main Jet size : DJ 144 equates to Mikuni 135

Pilot Jet DPJM018 can't find the Mikuni equivalent

    Mixture screw 2.5 turns out

  6. I have a B12 with mk2 carbs fitted. I have fitted a Dynojet and the instructions recommend a float height of 11 - 11.5 mm so I did this and then measured all 4 carbs with clear plastic tube and the float bowl drain hole. The good news is that there was no leaks and all 4 carbs had the same fuel height in the bowl.

Here’s the catch I think the fuel height is too high.

I have put a photo of the height from the outside. Could someone with experience/knowledge of this let me know whether I’m too high or indeed too low.

    many thanks in advance

  7. I think you’ve found your problem with the gaskets number 7. Although I would have put money on the Mickey Mouse ears being knocked as you replaced the cover. I’ve done it loads of times just the slightest displacement gives you an oil leak. Hope you’ve sorted it mate
