Appreciate all the replies, thank you. I am now a little wiser

Many years after ordering i finally get round to doing this job.
Ooops...mine are 34mm carbs, so not applicable.
Anyone need a set? I got a spare set of these spacers

Hi All
My slabby 750 F waa bought 30 off yrs ago. I lent a race bike to a guy for the TT who had raced the same slabby. Dynojet had worked on a better TT set up, the result was 1100 G carbs with either stage 1 or Dynojet kit (the mild one whichever it is)
To be fair it was a million times nicer than the flat-slides set up
Now I've been reading on here Dynojet are sold by the prince of darkness. It was a long time ago, we didn't have internet or colour tv, most of us still thought the earth was flat.
My slides had an extra airhole drilled by the rolling road man, standard mod i believe and made it even smoother. K&N filter
Question- why are Dynojet disliked on here. Im scared to change because i seem to have a pretty nice set up. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Thank you

it is a strange one the only thing i can think of is like whats been said, maybe a backfire and the needles have bounced up against the springs and dropped back into the wrong holes ??????? then when the slide drops down they have got bent.
Yep...that sounds like the only plausible explanation. Bloody strange, never seen anything like it

did all needles do this or just the one?
can only be a couple of things
installed wrong, maybe from backfiring and running bad
3 out of 4... I'm completely lost, I am Mr Carbs - meticulous in my preparation, especially with carbs, build loads of them. Built the bike in 2013, ran like a dream every summer until I stopped in 2019...2 year lay up, fired up and ran like crap. I never leave bikes idle for more than 2 months - that'll teach me!

what holds the needles in place on them carbs ?
Long springs push onto a big plastic spacer which goes over the needle. The needle circlip is the resting point for the spacer...each spacer must have come off the top of the needle as the top notch is too high. I can't believe it should be on top notch anyway, gone down one, see how she runs on full chat

Does anyone know the official name for the RED in the Japan market Slabby please? Getting my F 750 resprayed.
Thank you

MODS PLEASE MOVE THIS TO OIL COOLED, POSTED HERE BY MISTAKE
My bike was last used 2019. 1100 G cv cabs.
2020 it sad idle, 2021 I fired it up in the summer and took her for an mot.
Not running great, kept stalling when I shut off etc.
Finally took the carbs out last week - found this (see pics) needles have somehow come out and gone into the slide air holes.
I've dropped the circlip one notch as I can kind of see how the washer/ spring might come off being at the top, plus I want to rich up the mixture on acceleration anyway (not convinced top is the right place, but bear in mind totally bespoke set up on rolling road) - carb set up not standard, 1100G with dynojet needles and mains, runs very well normally, I think slightly too lean on full throttle so all good to change. Can't say 100% I remember needles being top notch om the needle, but I also can't say I've ever touched the clips since its rolling road session back in the late 90s - always run very well with balancing, v slight hesitation on opening up (hence going to be ok slightly richening)
However, set up is not my question, and bear in mind I overhauled the carbs not that many miles ago and it ran really well until I put her away.
Question is - how the fuck could this happen? Slides sticking after being left standing?? But even that doesn't make sense. Its almost as if someone vandalised it, but no normal human being would torment themselves this much to even go inside a slabby airbox. Only person with keys to the garage was the decorator, and whilst being a bit of tosser and a bit odd he was too busy smoking weed to attempt anything half this difficult.
Anyone seen anything like this before?

240 quid for oem rubbers is never justifiable
I bought new rubbers about 15 years ago. £240 is justifiable. £2400 would be justifiable. My life went from Fucking hell bastard cunt fuck bastard @"@%!@!@!!! to just "ooooh....suits you Sir"
I'd hunt around to get them cheaper
Any motorbike supplier will have a decent filter, I've always used them
To prevent this hassle again use STABIL 1 MARINE when in storage

I'm in Bristol.
One of these days I'd like to try and get some slabbies together, I'm only in Warwickshire myself.

I get round the fuel problem in winter storage using the STABIL 1 MARINE.
I had mine laid up for 2 years, not an issue, fired up instantly, pilots not blocked.
-
Mine is a Jap import - it has a fuel guage and also a speed warning light, but that has possibly been disabled. Can't remember exactly as last time mine was on was 25 years ago...but I think it is orange and in the dashboard, comes on at 50mph

Well the answer is not what anyone would expect!
New relay worked a treat from wemoto.
Then I realised being a complete dunder head the front indicators aren't connected (fairing respray in progress) - soon as I connected old relay worked too!
Old relay makes blinking sound, new one doesn't - new relay works with only 2 indicators with same timing

I got one of the bay of e for £7.99 delivered that works on led or normal bulbs just plug & play.
I looked at loads, but they all implied LED only. I think Wemoto was about 9 quid I think so not too bad

Ah true ! Also just remembered if the earth connections of the bike aren't overall great (not only the indicator ones), it can do that kind of thing
Bike stood 2 years, bound to be the case, don't remember last time I had the indicators apart

Usually indicates a high resistance in the circuit as this is exactly what happens if a bulb blows. Can also do it if the bulb fittings are corroded and have a high resistance. If the new relay doesn't sort it you might want to take the lenses off the indicators and have the bulbs out of the fittings for a looksee. If there is corrosion in there cleaning up with wet and dry and spraying with WD40 should get things going again.
Its a good point thank you. Im going to give everything a good going over like you suggest while I wait for my new relay
I'll post up any updates too

I know exactly what you mean by using fuel stabiliser. Used it in one of my previous bikes (ahem an unmentionable american brand) and seemed to work well enough.
Out of interest as we're briefly talking about fuel, what do others think about this new E10 with unleaded petrol? As far as I'm aware it won't be available at the pumps until September and was wondering what you guys do for fuel or even a fuel additive in your bikes. I'm more concerned with the long term effects of having a solvent in the fuel which if left unchecked can lead to some internal damage with carbs and fuel lines etc. I only say this as I've not yet managed to clarify whether a Suzuki motorcycle manufactured in the 80's is actually safe to run on this "new" fuel?
I guess that there's plenty of us that have come across this same problem before with blocked up carbs etc especially after sitting for long periods of time. Ethanol has a lot to answer for.
Well re fuel...im guessing the Super unleaded will still have the lowest or zero ethanol content. I'll just fill as normal during use. Stabil 1 marine seems to be the best for storage, so I'll do the same old, fill tank to the brim to stop rust, but plenty of Stabil 1 and a 5 mile run before laying up for winter.
Where are you based?
-
Hello Johnny
Welcome. Owned my 85 slabbie for 25 odd years, 2 restorations, all original bar the exhaust. Waking from the dead now after 2 yr lay up after work on other projects kept me too busy. Stabil 1 marine fuel stabilizer is your best friend

Ordered a new relay from Wemoto, 13 quid including postage.
Connections on existing one are fine. I'll give it a try

Funny because it's not really something that goes wrong, but maybe. Voltage is getting to all the points in the indicator system ?
The indicators come on, open blink then just stay on

Thanks chaps
Connectors are all clean (Vaseline). Everything else is spot on but i haven't checked the relay connectors themselves so I'll try that. Battery is new and spins the motor well. Wemoto is a good shout. I'll keep you posted

PLEASE DELETE POST...answered my own question*******
Can anyone tell me where heat protection shield goes underneath a slappy tank?
I cant remember is it the square block at the front of the tank or the inverted bit. Making my own out of thin adhesive heat shield matting.
Is it 27 and 28?
Thank you
