  1. All done thanks I took the plug and spring out and gently pushed on the tensioner and I heard it click. It sounds like a new bike now so it did indeed need its next click.thats one to remember for the future

    Thanks

35k is not a lot for a cam chain replacement, especially a hivo. it could be the tensioner is ready to click over to the next tooth ?

Is there any way to help it along to its next click

  3. Hi not been on here for a while covid nearly got me.Anyway my 1200 blandit rattles terrible it's a little better when hot I've done the valve clearance and replaced the tensioner spring but it still sounds bad.Im now thinking the cam chain has passed its service life the bike has done 35k miles .Has anyone had the experience of using the split chain to avoid the engine strip down.or are they best avoided.will i get more cam chain milage from a manual tensioner.

    Thanks

  4. While I have my bandit 12 head on the mill at work sorting the exhaust stud holes I was wondering if it would benefit from a head skim.if its a worthwhile mod how much should I remove.

    Thanks

Common enough mod and I find studs an nuts a damn sight easier to assemble compared to a cap head bolt int o a hole you can bearly see! SS studs and bradd or copper nuts is a safe solution IMO.

Excellent thanks I didn't know if there were any clearance issues with the frame and getting a socket or spanner on the nuts

  6. Hi

I have just had to re weld one of my exhaust stud holes as the previous owner absolutely butchered one of the holes trying to drill it out.I have re tapped the hole and would rather use studs instead of bolts.would there be any issues with studs apart from the ball ache of exhaust flange alignment.didnt know if anyone in the past had junked bolts for studs

    Thanks

  7. Hi I'm going to remove the head from my blandit 12 to re machine the exhaust studs.i have been told that you can re use the head gasket with giving it a coat of primer is that right.if a new head gasket is needed do I go genuine or are there decent pattern ones available

    Thanks

fitted with an rf clutch at the factory ???  bullshit . Suzuki has part numbers for specific models for a reason......

Been in touch with a guy who owns one has exactly the same set up.i should have said its the same clutch as an rf 900 rather than its an rf 900 clutch.

B12 basket with gsxr600 k4 hub etc like in my gsx1157et and @370steve have done, he.did it first ;)

I've compared the pictures of the 600 hub and its different the raised center hub on mine is bigger  diameter.also the bike has stood for 15 years + so unlikely to be a k4 item.

  10. Hi I'm gradually stripping the early1200 bandit I acquired and it looks like alot of differences are not only cosmetic I removed the clutch cover and this clutch is not the same as my other bandit.would this be a early gsxr clutch assembly ??

    Thanks

So the needle doesn't go down through the jet in the traditional fashion?

The needle only goes down the emulsion tube it won't go into the jet

yeah ive seen that type of jet before years ago but not in a bandit carb !!!  what carbs are on it ?

This is off the pre production 95 bandit 12  I have.the carbs are 36mm mikuni items.they look like the standard ones for the bike

And when you press them back in your un-damaged block, put a weight on top of them as they cool, to stop ‘creep’!(y)

    Ok thanks for the info

Why not just use the hole spare block with the good liner's instead of swapping them?

Or is the spare block f##ked?
