  1. I'm using the bike as a base for a non-faired machine and the TL-R radiator is really unsightly for that purpose. It's shaped for the fairing. I'm not using a fairing. That, and I don't think the TL-R radiator is as good a fit as the curved aluminum ones used on GSX-R's.
  2. I'm making a non-fairing bike out of my TL1000R and I want to know if the TL1000S radiator will adequately cool the TL-R? The TL-R radiator shape won't work without a fairing - it's too wide.
  3. Which shape though? The narrow or the regular or...?
  4. I was planning on using an Earl's 13 row cooler on both machines and I see that I can get Earl's anodized 14mm to AN6 adapters...I think that will be my route. Thanks to all, it was inspirational. I'll send pictures of both projects when finished.
  5. gammaboy, the Lockhart plate has brass fittings standard but they're sized for the plate and not the oil outlets at the front of the motor.
  6. Arnout, I was talking about the actual fittings going from the oil outlet to the hose leading to the cooler. Same dimensions? I have one Lockhart plate that I will use on my Katana but I want to put a better cooler on my 1150. M14x1.5 still?
  7. Arnout, all good thoughts. Where did you get the proper size outlets to plumb the openings? Just a set of right-angle metrics?
  8. Anyone know the specs of the stock TL1000R fan? What is the rated electric current draw? CFM rating?
  9. Gammaboy: The setup you show is what I',m looking for but as we know that's not the stock 1150 fit. Where's yours from?
  10. Has anyone done an upgrade with their TL-R radiator(s)? If so, what? Deeper? Better fans? Anything?
  11. What is the common size of Earl's Oil Cooler used to replace the standard Suzuki waffle iron on a GSXR1100? How many rows?
  12. Reason being that the Lockhart setup is narrower than using the outlets and the Lockhart has no need to use any outside hoses. It plumbs the oil filter cover. Anybody out there have or have access to a Lockhart NOS oil cooler adapter?
  13. WebBikeJapan has a conversion for Katanas and GS1100's to use Brembo 4 piston calipers. Has anyone found a similar conversion for the GS1150?
  14. Anyone out there have a NOS Lockhart oil cooler adapter to fit my Katana or 1150? It's a modded oil filter cover that comes with the outlets already included? Any help?
  15. Not sure that's an accepted fact across the board...I know a lot of people who use them.....
  16. I remember seeing a few years ago a hardened shifter part that made both shifting and getting into neutral easier. I'm finding my '86 1100 harder to get into neutral when hot these days, and if I make any kind of change I'd like it to be permanent. Anyone got a handle on this part? A "star"?
  17. Nice to see another slabside bacl OTR. I would suggest that the very best investment you could make would be a set of Pretech calipers. I know it'll seem like the bike stops just fine now. I know people will tell you to adapt (add name of off-brand motorcycle) calipers . Don't. Get the Pretechs. They're a world away from any DIY adaptation, and the difference in braking is not only dramatic, but easily manageable. I've had a set for years, and they're the single best change I made to a much-modified machine.
  18. I presently have a temperature sender in one of the top end side cylinder bolts on my 1986 GXR1100. In 2018 I am going to fit new cams and with them a top end oiler kit from APE. Is there another point where I can attach the sender, since the oiler access is the same place where I now have my sender attached?
  19. Thanks to all for the info: I'll be careful to observe flexible rubber mounting. And I'll use 19 row as a basis.
  20. I know that GS motors aren't high oil pressure operators, but is there any problem when you fit a cooler to a GS that has been recorded? I'm going to use the oil filter diverter that came with my old Lockhart cooler to hook up an Earl's cooler to my '83 Katana.
  21. I have a 1986 GSXR1100 and I am planning on a mild performance upgrade. One thing I would really like to do though is to replace the standard radiator with an Earl's cooler. I'd like to know, since there's a lot of experience gained in 30+ years, what is the best size Earl's cooler to fit my GSXR?
  22. Partner, all I can say is that I wish you well and I also have a GS1150 and an '83 Katana. Any chance you also have an '86 GSXR1100 and a TL-R as well?
  23. Hello US Old Skool members. Anybody know of a reliable source in the Northeast who can be trusted to work on my 1983 Katana motor?
  24. Do you have the link for Cap'n Chaos' conversion?
  25. You advise a smaller master cylinder diameter - why? I was almost ready to go with a bigger piston...
