  1. Any movement on this? My favourite frame that's been wrapped around a oil boiler.

I was talking to a lad with one years ago on customfighters, his mate worked in the workshop I think. I was trying to get the frame diagrams last time I was talking to him to build another.

The older 1052 cc engines are marked U7xx-.

The 1100F engines have helix gears on the crank/clutch basket, which creates some axial loads you can do without on a highly tuned engine.

As said above, the double bearing on the output shaft is preferrable on a high performance engine, and the Bandits had slightly thicker liners (+0.5 mm IIRC).

The 91-92 shim heads are said to be more prone to failures of the rocker arms/shims, but I have no experience of that myself.

The clutches with ordinary springs are easier to beef up if needed, compared to the later ones using a disc spring.

Otherwise, I don't know of any significant differences.

Not seen the helical primary actually cause any issues in reality tho. And the teeth have a larger surface area than straight cut.

High uncomfortable rear sets are ok for quick track days but if you're using it for riding on the road make them comfortable or you will end up not riding the bike.

Did the same one one of my bikes nice and high rear sets but found after 15 minutes on the bike I was getting cramp in my legs, so the ride wasn't fun and my riding went down hill, I then put them at a more comfortable place and loved riding the bike, end of the day on the road I'm not going as fast round bends as you would on the track.

Weirdly enough, I find high rearsets comfortable, Harley pegs make my hip lock up

From memory Busa rods are 2.5mm longer than GSXR rods, so even with the 1mm shorter stroke of the 1052 crank, you'll need some kind of spacer to prevent piston-to-head contact :o

You should end up with around 1195/1196cc but as to compression ratio, that will depend greatly on how much the combustion chamber volume has been reduced by the skimming, and some math with the swept volume of the cylinder, etc.. etc..

There may be calculators out there now that you can punch the numbers into (bore, stroke, chamber capacity, squish band, valve-pocket capacity on the piston crown etc..) but I don't know of any personally.

Yep rods are longer, with the shorter stroke and taller block it shouldn't be too far off.

Will be measuring the chamber volume and doing the maths when I get everything together.

The other issue is the 1052 oil return tubes are seized in the cases so have to sort that out first ¬¬

  5. Cheers gents.

Plan is 1052 bottom, busa pistons and rods, 1127f barrels, ported and skimmed dot head with reground cams.

I know the head was skimmed that much that it needed a base spacer to lower comp when on a 748 race motor.

Not exactly straight forward, but fuck it, why not xD

I'm thinking between the skimmed head and busa rods ill more likely have reduce the comp. Will have to wait and see unless one of the brains on here can fill in the gaps for me :D

  6. Anyone know if the o rings for the body of the starter motor are suzuki weird sizes or available from normal suppliers? Same question for the o ring joining starter motor and alternator to the cases?

i have a 750L and have the power jet carbs.

    That's what I thought

My vague memory is telling me something about the US model having the same carbs but with the powerjet circuit disabled o.O

I believe so but not sure if they still had the pipe for it or not.

  8. A friend of mine picked these up as b12 carbs but they're not. He measured them at 38mm I.d. But they don't have power jet, but have the bolt that unscrews from the bottom of bowl for jets. Not checked cylinder spacing yet.
