At 25000 miles I'd consider a top end rebuild, cheaper in the long run.Make sure your powervalve cables are adjusted properly and the motor will sing (no money 20 minutes). Though for longevity I'd invest i n uprated powervalves, mine broke but didn't take the piston out, but I've seen those that have.

Soap works quite well on pinholes, reacts with the petrol to form a hard substance. Also hammerite rust dip is quite good

Well I had a look last night and you can buy hoses and banjos for a fraction of the price of "bespoke" ones. Though if can someone post a how to, as gixer1460 describes, I'd be obliged. Couldn't find anything on the net but I do have a vise and a dremel (clone). If nothing else this thread has saved me some cash (looking at the pile of crocks in my garage)

Thanks for that, I like the idea of making my own. I thought I'd need a specialised swager

Any recommendations for someone to make up some brake hose, braided by preference. Hose is an odd length
thanks

I had the same problem but couldn't make a permanent fix. I did cut a slot in a washer and jammed that into the pivot point, but it was never right

Thanks for that, i know the main jets are oversize. Time for a rebuild kit.

I might be slightly mad but I've decided to rebuild my slabby motor rather than dropping an 1100/1200 in.
Now I think I can source most of the parts off the net, but can anyone recommend a good crank recon service?
Also reasonably priced discs and an exhaust are hard to find any suggestions?
In fact any recommendations for parts in general?
thanks

What's the standard jet size for a 96 SRAD? I know the bike was jetted rich and it's fouling it's plugs so I'll start there
thanks

Fantastic bike. I used to race one. Swoped it for a Yosh race system for my SRAD big mistake should have kept it

In reply to the question yes brace it. For what it s worth, I was offered a braced frame a few years ago. It had a bit of crpssbracing but the headstock was heavily plated.
slabby fairings question

The 1100 mid fairing is slightly different and has 2 bolts on the diagonal instead of 3. However if you use a 750 top fairing with 750 mid panels there won't be a problem
