  1. Hey, Can anyone tell me if the stops on the ‘93 1100 forks lower triple tree work with a GSX1100S Katana frame, or do I need to modify them? cheers
  2. Gammaboy and I are lucky enough to have the countries (dare I say) #1 GSX builder not too far away. He's retired now so I have to work out how to achieve the same outcome without his input. He and his right hand man both have 200+ hp NA street bikes and they swear by welding it on so that was never in question, just how to go about it without his help. I've measured the shaft so if I ever have to cut the weld off, I have the shaft OD and a helpful machine shop around the corner from me who I ended up getting to press the gear off because some cheeky bugger knocked off the plates on the press at work. Thanks for for the input all.
  3. Not sure what you mean Skelly. Have you got a pic?
  4. What's got me stumped is how to get behind it to push iit as there isn't much room. My thought is to push 5th and hopefully 2nd will come off.
  5. Hi, I have to replace my 5th gear set on an early GSX1100E. Has anyone gotten the drive 2nd gear (the pressed on one) off without damaging it? if I can get it off without damage, I'll replace the 5th drive gear and refit the pressed 2nd gear and weld it on Any help would be appreciated cheers
  6. Hey, I'm fitting a '91 1100 set of gauges to a Kat. The Kat diagram has the tacho signal wire coming off one of the coils trigger wires and 6 wires out of the igniter The slingshot diagram has 7 wires out of the ignitor. One of them is the tacho signal wire. My question is- does anyone know whether the slingshot signal is off an earth, trigger etc.? cheers
  7. Legend. Thanks for the info.
  8. Hi, live got a slabby with an 1127 engine in it. It has slabby exhaust and carbs/air box. I've managed to source a freer flowing 4-1 exhaust and a set of 36mm CV's from a GSXF750. I'm looking at fitting the exhaust and running velocity stacks with ram air foam filters. What I want to know is- what size main jet is a good start for this setup? cheers
  9. Timing retard? It delayed the advance of the timing in the first couple of gears to reduce the chance of wheelying. I think that's how it worked. I think some bikes you had to disconnect a plug that jumped two wires. Others you had to install a jumper wire but the more modern stuff you installed a TRE- Timing Retard Eliminator.
  10. Can I do the same to an 1127 shim headed motor? Cheers
  11. Excellent point to which I'd given 0 thought to. GPS speedo maybe. Thanks for that.
  12. Hey, i have a set of rims from an '06 GSX750F and I'm wondering whether to attempt to put them on my '87 Slabby 1100. It's not a huge increase in width but gets 17" on it. Has anyone made the swap? cheers
  13. Excellent to know. I knew there was no way it would help it but knowing they are restrictors has sealed the deal. My threads etc are great so I'll give it a nip up and if still leaky I'll try a spacer behind the gasket or a second gasket. Cheers for the input guys.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Theyre only about 1mm thick so I also think they shouldn't make a difference. I had considered a second row of gaskets but genuine are $40 per set set and I thought I was doing the right thing buying the bits on the parts list. Its odd that they are stocked in Oz and they're on the Oz parts list if they are only for those 3 countries. I might remove it and see if it's crushing the gaskets and reassess then. thanks for the input
  15. Hi, I have an 1127 in a slabby and was giving it a tidy up recently. Upon finishing and giving it a run, I noticed the exhausts leaked at the head slightly. It was leaking badly prior to this so I fitted new gaskets. I looked at the online parts catalogue and noticed I'm missing the exhaust plates (Item 5 in this figure) I ordered them and they look like a restrictor - because of this I'm not keen to fit them but may need to add something else to take up the space to get it to seal does anyone know why these are fitted? cheers
