  1. hi just brought a slingy 750 1992 frame. take it it,s a 91 registered in 92. looking for the side frame arm one advert says the 1990 arm was different for one year. anyone know how different. just a bracket or will the arm not fit. dont want to buy the wrong arm. allready got a shed full. cheers
  2. Cheers for the input. Thats decided then. Not going to fix what’s not broken. Save some precious time too.
  3. hi just brought a b12 to strip the motor out for my slabby frame project. i have a slab swingarm but no linkage. is there a reason so many people swop the arm out for a newer model. linkages on that site go for a premium so i,d rather put the cash into modding something if thats a better option. cheers for any thoughts..
  4. Yes that’s it. Advert on net said f g h crank cases. Mixed me up. Lots to learn on this oilcooled stuff..
  5. Just missed out on a motor. are the internals compatable over f/g/h models if I spot a bottom end or cases and decide to build or am I best to hold out. New projects always make me feel like a kid in a sweet shop ..
  6. Soz. Now I know what a teapot is tho. Did wonder. Still in the shed in bits somewhere
  7. cheers. brought a 600 katana once and they were almost rotted through.
  8. cheers think i,m going original for the first time ever so will have to be the slabby engine. one thing i,ve seen tends to rot are the oil return tubes bellow the exhaust ports. are these specific to each model or can i use any 1100 ones if they need replacing.
  9. also would a top end rebuild and new seals be done as a normal thing or only if needed. i tend to go over the top with engines
  10. hi picked up a 1100 slabby frame for my 750 need a lighweight bike project. got rear shock thrown in so all good. then he said do you want to see my slabby. should have got out of there fast but said yes. now i need one... so i,m looking for a 1100 engine.there not cheap so i would like to avoid buying a lemon. other than good threads ect is there anything i should look out for on these. i can see my quick budget summer build disapearing into the sunset..

    what to do...?

picked up a 87 1100 frame today and standard shock. pics to follow. looking for a 1100 arm as they seem much more substantial with the back plate on. linkages are like hens teeth tho. was building a single seater but after looking at this guys 1100 today i,m leaning towards mostly standard.

    what to do...?

cheers for that. will stay standard then.. looking forward to getting into this build but without a frame to hang on feels like i,m running on the spot. ordered top end rebuild kit tho.
  15. can anyone tell me if the b6 top yoke has the same width/offset as the slabside or if there is another top that will do the job. too old for a bad back.nee renthals on this build. cheers

    what to do...?

missed a slingshot this morning. think i,m going to hold out for a slabby frame and standard swinger then. got a bandit frame to cut up and weld while i,m waiting for parts. my tig only welds steel. should have got a ac/dc one. the cheap chinese alloy ones were tested out by chris ireland at desperate dan customs and found to be great for the money..

    what to do...?

yeah. Might wait to get my post count up while I rebuild the motor then see what I can pick up here. still trying to figure out what swingarm to go with. Does not having a dog bone setup on the early frames limit the arms you can use. Don’t want to buy standard to find out later there’s a mod everyone does for less flex.. ect the amount of people who have chimed in is great..

    what to do...?

    what to do...?

cheers for the feedback engine prefix is R 7 3 6 i cannot find a cc stamp anywhere. just a patent stamp under carb inlet. got the carbs off .mikuni but no model number. i know nothing about these modern engines but learning fast as the 1980s are getting a bit heavy now. is the width the same on b6 and slabby forks so i just need to buy a new lower yoke. too old to deal with clippons. is slingshot different. whats with these frame prices on pirate site. seem all over the place. whats the going rate. why are some solid frames and some have bolt on subframes. might have to go slingshot route as slabby seem much harder to pickup.... are there any frames or years i should avoid ?

    what to do...?

pics... it,s a bitsa but worth 350. slabby frame would be nice and light. anyone know if this front end would drop right in.

    what to do...?

i,ll see if i can get over to it today and get some pics up.
  24. ..with all these bits i,ve brought. hi guys ..just done a cheap blind buy on a bitsa. bandit frame with what i was told was a slabby or slingshot 750 motor. 53 and still riding round on a 1989 fj1200 so the plan was use the bits and build something light. turns out it,s a gsx750f motor with oversize carbs and 2 dual pods. runs well..bandit frame tank. old steel swingarm. forks are slabby with the antidive but top yoke has risers. wheel are gsxr straight 3 spoke. what would be the best/lightest frame to use. slabside or slingshot. am i right to think slabby shock has no linkage/dogbones ? do the front and back end mod easily. just trying to get a good place to start from. cheers for any feedback
  25. 1250 bearing has a od of 52mm. 5mm bigger than a 1200 one. i can fit 52 *25 beearing but will it have enough meat on it ? cheers
