Foz Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 As the title suggests what's the best for a road bike ? Linear or progressive fork springs ? Quote
370steve Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 from my experience, progressive are better for soaking up the lumps bumps and pot holes of normal road surface, but linear are better suited to track surface and better for set up 2 Quote
dougw Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 A progressive spring will soak up smaller irregularities better than a linear spring , but pass on more of the impact on larger irregularities . Ideal situation is the correct linear spring rate and damping to match, BUT a progressive spring will work better than the wrong rate linear, and may be a better compromise if you ride with different loads, ie two up , luggage, ate a load of pies..
