Will 1100 tank fit 750 ? 

I like the look of 1100 tank with the wider bottom

Wider bottom? I think the bottom width was always the same. In 1986, the 5.5 gallon tank was introduced on some markets, and it's rounder and  taller. Any pics of what you mean?

The tank i was looking at was wider above the frame rails. I'll try and get a pic later

That's a 5.5 gallon tank. It was introduced on both 750 and 1100 in 1986, on some markets, e.g. UK, and in 1987 on other markets. The tanks are interchangeable, but petrol cock placement and geometry varies between 750 and 1100.
