August17 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Anyone have a gear type growl when taking off in 1st gear on their 1200 bandit mk1,and it gos away when bike gets moving ? Quote
colinworth79 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 I would check drive chain tension and lubricate first . Had this once and chain was rather dry . Quote
Sheep Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 As above..I too took my other big bike out and it started to grumble, almost notchy...thought it was the 'box on it's was out (it has a fourth gear issue anyway)....turns out a good squirt of chain lube did the trick....i'd try this first before condemning the box,it won't hurt and costs pennys...worth a go.If no better then at least it rules that out. Does it do it in any other gear?? Quote
August17 Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 The chain has plenty of lube ,always lubed up it has had the noise since I brought it 22000 km ago now has 63000 Kim's on the clock, doesn't make the noise in other gears and I can take of with out it making a noise if I slip (ride) the cluch, makes me wonder if it isn't a clutch shudder but there's no feeling of a shudder just the sound . I'm the 3rd owner and we are all over 50years old last owner was over 60 ,bike was bog stock and very unlikely to have been abused, any one heard maybe of the clutch basket nut coming loose???????
