Hi guys.

dropped on a few engine bits today but was just wondering if anyone can tell me if a GS1000 crank is the same as an early 1100. I know the starter clutch etc is the same. Anyone enlighten me a little.?

cheers Wilf

If the 1100, over the 1000's capacity is gained by a longer throw, I'd say no, they're not the same. Possible easy way to find out is, go to Alpha Sports website, and compare part no's.

Thanks for that Toni, both have a 66mm throw so assume bigger Pistons. But will it go in?  Anyone else ever swapped 'em?

When you Say gs1000 and 1100 do you mean 8v motor or 16valve.

Gs1000 8v has a 64.8 stroke the 1000 and 1100 16valve motors have 66.4 stroke.

1100 16v cranks can be made to fit in a gs1000 it's a lot of work machining cases and such. Gs1000 into 1100 never heard it being done but anything is possible. :)
