Wilf Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Hi guys. dropped on a few engine bits today but was just wondering if anyone can tell me if a GS1000 crank is the same as an early 1100. I know the starter clutch etc is the same. Anyone enlighten me a little.? cheers Wilf Quote
Swiss Toni Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 If the 1100, over the 1000's capacity is gained by a longer throw, I'd say no, they're not the same. Possible easy way to find out is, go to Alpha Sports website, and compare part no's. Quote
Wilf Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 Thanks for that Toni, both have a 66mm throw so assume bigger Pistons. But will it go in? Anyone else ever swapped 'em? Quote
Cheeky4648 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 When you Say gs1000 and 1100 do you mean 8v motor or 16valve. Gs1000 8v has a 64.8 stroke the 1000 and 1100 16valve motors have 66.4 stroke. 1100 16v cranks can be made to fit in a gs1000 it's a lot of work machining cases and such. Gs1000 into 1100 never heard it being done but anything is possible. Quote
Wilf Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 Thanks for that. So by that if it's a 16v crank, it's the same? Quote
Cheeky4648 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 All 16v cranks were the same throw 66.4. All can be used in 16v cases. Hope this helps. If you have a 16v 1000 crank it must be from a katana with the good 493 rodz on it? Quote
Cheeky4648 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Just to add. A 16v crank is not the same as an 8v crank difference is in stroke and width of some of the crank webs. Quote
Wilf Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 Brilliant. Thanks guys. Looks like I might have dropped lucky then., set of wiseco pistons too. Roll on winter. Cheers again lads Quote
