RojoMojo Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 So i am nearing the end of my project build i it has just dawned on me that i may need drop my forks through the yokes a bit. I have clip-ons fitted under the yokes and the top of my forks are a couple of mm above the top yoke, but i have just realised on a standard 1127 Slingshot the bars bolt on above the top yoke and thus the forks must be dropped through the yokes by 'X' amount to get these to fit. Can any one tell me by how much? I know there may be a degree of individual set up / preference but i think starting from standard my be a good place to begin... My donor bike was streetfightered (badly) with wide bars on risers so i have no point of reference. The bike will mainly be used on the road and maybe the odd track day. Cheers Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 if you have no starting point then lean against a wall and have a look the bottom frame rail should be parallel to the floor,ish....lower the forks through until it looks right, then try it to see if its stable, that's how I did my 7/11 I was convinced it was all wrong as it looked like a moto crosser, but it wasent.. Jaydee Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Slingshot 1127 usd forks are 20mm longer than the 750 items. The 1127 clip ons are 30mm thick where the fork passes through. So 20mm to 30mm would be a good set up range. Quote
RojoMojo Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Hi, Jaydee, i was erring on around 25mm as a 'guesstimate', so thanks for providing the thickness of the standards clip ons, i'll have a play and see what things feel like. Cheers 1 Quote
