Dezza Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Is it usual on an oil colled (1052) motor to have to change the 6 o'rings in the head as well as the head gasket for a top end inspection? The reason I ask is these things are £6+ each, and along with all the other bits needed, and the outrageous price of £64 quid for the head gasket, costs all start to mount up. Base gaskets are only a fiver at the moment from Robs Foundry though. I have a motor of unknown history that contains much gasket sealant and has one damaged spark plug thread suggesting at least one bodger has had access to it. It does look like the head may have been gas flowed though given the shape of the inlet ports so I am in two minds investing time, money and effort into this engine. Quote
markfoggy Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Price on Partzilla looks a little more attractive. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Suzuki/Motorcycle/1988/GSX-R1100/CYLINDER+HEAD/parts.html Quote
Dezza Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks but I don't think it will make that much difference ordering all the parts from the US. The recent collapse in ther value of the pound, import duty and postage costs are going to wipe out any saving. Quote
