SRAD swingarm on 89 gsxr750

hey everyone, just wondering if a SRAD swingarm can be fitted to a 89 gsxr750...well im sure it can be, i guess what im asking is how much work would have to be put in to do it?

i have the 89gsxr750 swingarm and the braced watercooled swingarm so i know i can fit the braced W one with no real struggle, but it would be nice to be able to use a 6 inch rear wheel, and it gives me more options for lighter wheels and also it may be easier to find tires for? not sure on that last bit.

anyways, just figured id ask, think this is mostly it for now as far as forum posts but dont be surprised if i get one question answered and another few questions are asked. i would like to make a sweet build with not much fabrication needing to be done.

so far it seems that ill be using the slingshot yokeset, SRAD forks, nissin 4 pot calipers, the braced 750W swingarm, and gsxrW wheelset. the shock i havent figured out just yet but thats okay.

Pretty sure they have to be machined down at the pivot to fit the slingshot frame. Early K series swing arms will bolt up more easily. There's a bracket that people on here have made to allow K swing arms to bolt on, but I don't think the J/K frames had the mount holes on the underside. My 89 7/11 has an 04 1K swing arm, but needed a new top shock mount made that's higher and a lot farther back. Search the custom builds, I'm sure someone has used an SRAD swing arm, but don't remember them being easy to fit.

did you have to remove the old one and weld a new one on for that mount?

Mine got moved up and back on a custom mount for the subframe. Either the bottom linkage needs to go down or the top mount has to go up and back for the shock to clear the swing arm.

With any of these swing arm swaps, if they're top braced, you're probably gonna want to see if you can find a remote reservoir shock. Otherwise if the reservoir is high enough to clear the bracing, it's most likely gonna hit the battery tray.
