Hey guys, I'm installing a '83 GS1100E (USA) engine into my '82 Katana 1000SZ (USA) and need two front triangular engine mount plates that will make this swap work. The ones that I have from both bikes are not lining up (the rest of the mounting bolts and plates line up fine). It looks like the '82-'83 plates are not available from my usual Suzuki OEM parts suppliers.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find these and the part numbers? Or has someone fabricated these and maybe has an engineering drawing they could share?

Worst case scenario I will make some, or maybe see if one of those online places could cut them for me.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated, thanks. -Ed

Ps: I'm putting an 1100 engine into my '82 1000 because the original 1000cc engine was long gone before I picked up this very sad project Katana.

If i remember correctly you need the katana mounts as the other gsx ones are flat , also make sure you have them the right way round , thought my frame was bent till the penny dropped

Are you sure the frame is straight?

Welcome on OSS by the way.

It appears to be straight, the bottom and rear mounting plates/bolts installed fine, doing further research, it looks like I'm missing the correct front mounting plates. And thanks for the welcome, lots of great info and bikes here.

Thanks for the input guys.

I posted on the Katana World Registry page on Facebook, got some good info, and found the front mounting plates that I need, a guy is sending them to me tomorrow, fingers crossed that they fit.

According to those guys, and what I could see on suzukipartshouse . com, the front engine mounting plates/brackets are unique to the '82 Katana GS1000SZ (USA) and to the '80-82 GS750E. The '83 Katana 1100 and '83 GS1100E plates are different.

I'll update once I receive the plates and get them installed. Thanks again.  -Ed

Rec'd the front mounting plates and installed them, perfect fit. Turns out I was missing a couple of the mounting bolts, used some hardware I had laying around to install them and waiting for the correct OEM bolts to arrive before I torque everything down. Now onto the next 300 little things I need to attend to to get this bike back on the road, Lol.
