gsx Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Hi all, been having starting issues, long story short changed the starter motor for a 750 dot head one and motor wouldn't turn over, removed the nrc cover and it would ? Yeah me too . Removed sprag and toothed gear , replaced cover and all turns over? Should there be a thrust washer between them ? And any one had problems with nrc covers ? It did start and run with old started motor but very sluggish turning over and was full of crap . Ta Jay Quote
gsx Posted December 31, 2021 Author Posted December 31, 2021 Right that's one problem sorted, the 750 starter does fit but has one more tooth ! Quote
Lachie04 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 OK I have a 750 starter on a 1052 crank and clutch but I am using the 750 idler gear, and with a NRC cover. 1 tooth more hmm that may explain why I thought it was a bit sluggish but otherwise no particular issues, so sounds you'll need the idler gear also to go with the starter motor I was going to change the clutch over (the 750 one looks a bit lighter) as I counted both clutch sprockets and seem to remember they were the same tooth count 68 each but didn't have a puller Quote

One question though, my sprag removed with tap between with screwdriver , how do I put it on properly ? Ta Jay 1 Quote
Lachie04 Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 It's just a press fit and tightened with the bolt as per the manual 1 Quote
