Rzzle Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I have taken apart the brake calipers and removed the pistons from the pots after 6 years of this bike not moving. I have removed some of the gunk with a tooth brush but there are some black stains and some gunk still remaining. Any advice on how to clean this would be appreciated. Thanks.https://photos.app.goo.gl/JceYvrz3shYYjAEN7 Quote
mikeyd Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I have used dental picks and scotchbrite pads (gray or red) with good results. Don't lay into the aluminum too much. Quote
Swiss Toni Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) And make sure the seal groove is spotless. I wouldn’t be too bothered about the cylinder being marked, it’s bad corrosion you need to look out for! Before you assemble it, wash out in Meths, dry with compressed air, and use red rubber grease on the seals. Then go and introduce yourself in ‘General’. Edited December 31, 2021 by Swiss Toni 2 Quote
