cnap504 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 I’m taking my 1150 clutch apart to check the condition of the plates as I have an intermittent slip problem. There is a wire ring that holds the last metal plate in, I haven’t removed it yet, debating whether or not I should. What’s up with that thing? Quote
Arttu Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 There are a couple of cushion washers under the last plate. See: https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gsx1100ef-1985-f-e01-e02-e04-e15-e16-17-18-21-22-24-25-34-39_model13735/partslist/FIG-17.html#.YKNKRqGU8uU I'm not exactly sure what's the function of the locking wire since everything should stay in place even without it once the clutch is assembled. Most likely it's there to make assembly easier. Personally I probably wouldn't remove it unless I doubt there might be something wrong with the last plate or the hub itself. Quote
yoshi Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 (edited) its hard to get that wire back to where it was , best to have a a new one ready if your stripping yours its probably been in place nearly 40 years Edited May 19, 2021 by yoshi Quote
