Jonnyg Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Good afternoon I'm currently working on a 1978 GS1000s trying to set the carbs up, but im struggling to get them to balance up. I have a low vaccuum reading on Cylinder 3. As i lower the slide on number 3 to raise the Vac it is forced on the venturi floor which then lifts all the other slides causing engine to race. I have replaced the inlet rubbers,O,rings and clamp rings to remove air leaks, checked valve clearances all within spec. compression cold is 150 psi for all 4 cylinders. loosing my already thinning hair know any help appreciated Thanks John Quote
Jonnyg Posted May 15, 2021 Author Posted May 15, 2021 Sorted it operator error there are three breathers off the back of the carbs as I thought, No No No the pipe off No3 is a Vac pipe hence the low reading What a Fecking Idiot Quote

Poldark Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Don't feel too bad. One time, I did similar, but the opposite. Hooked up the vacuum port to the vacuum actuated fuel petcock, then capped off the other two "vacuum" ports. After I figured out that they weren't vacuum ports, but carb vents, it ran so much better.
